Basically a pivot grab / pivot wave grab is demonstrated in this video. SKIP TO 4:30

so i barely see anybody do this.

pivot grabbing helps you get maximum damage on opponents that can be chain grabbed.

for example. if you are facing the ledge, and get a grab on your opponent... you can only get a few grabs on your opponent. however, if you know how to pivot grab. then you can do multiple turn arounds to get the maximum damage as demonstrated in my video.

another use for pivoting is to stop your running momentum in order to execute moves out of a foxtrot.
A fox trot is a short dash that remains in the beginning stages of running.

this video demonstrates it better.

As you can see, pivoting can potentially give us a large advantage over players who do not know of its existence. learn it! use it!

Interesting. i am not sure if you can pivot wave grab a dthrow or an fthrow. if you can that could really help the cg game. if it needed help anyway  Ill test this stuff out.

EDIT: no on fthrow yes on dthrow. this looks awesome. really i can see it only applying ot wolf though, as he is the only one you could dthrow into a reverse fthrow chain. everyone else is either: dthrow is so much better anyway why would you fthrow? OR they can escape a dthrow. however, even if they can escape the dthrow, perhaps they wont be expecting it and you can pull it off. i like it.

I do it by hitting starting to run one way, very quickly hit Z + cstick oppisite direction. you can control the distance of teh slide by how soon you hit z+cstick, the longer you wait the longer you slide.

i actually implemented this technique into my game after Stealth showed it too me, and i must say it is much easier to do it when u have R registered as a grab button :p

i did know about this and used it kinda infrequently, but now that i saw some of that stuff, i'll definitely try to incorporate it more, not only is it good for mindgames and combo continuation, but spacing as well, which is important, especially with a character like pikachu that has short legs! I know i use the DTAC a lot to get that extra space to avoid an attack while countering with my own, but this just adds to it :)
