Hi. Project M. Just sayin'.
Last I heard the Clone Engine may prove impossible, and even if it gets completed, Roy and Mewtwo are still in question to be included

I wish we could get a good Roy for the time being, I prefer Roy over Marth

The point is, we already have a good Roy in progress. If it's never included in P:M, it's not like we're going to clutch to it and never release it.

Yes, but are they going to give him all his old animations back too?
His counter? His idle jitter? Or are they going to keep him...Like how he is now
animation-wise, with too much of a Marth feel?

I for one, aspire to give him as many unique animations as I can muster.
(Fiddling with the Down taunt. I have his upper body rotating and his sword arm going the way
they do for his Melee taunt so far.)

Also, for making Brawlbox animations...Do they need to have their feet be touching the
"floor" of brawl box? Or...Will they be otherwise floating in the air?
(As trying to make Roy's counter animation was...Thrown a smidge off track while I fiddled
with making his feet stick to the ground in BB)

Not to mention, the fabled "perfect" Roy would also require more work with the model, too.

We've already done a decent amount of animation work on Roy. And by "We," I mean mostly just Camelot.

And yes, Roy's feet need to be touching the floor, otherwise he will oddly float.

I second this. ;o

Project M sounds promising...what are you going to do about the Final Smash? I think Thany's Roy ultimately would be the best if she is able to do it considering her Roy knowledge.

I third the aforementioned... and I would also be willing to compare and contrast from a viewpoint of someone who has not worked on the project.

Very nice, this will help in getting Roy's voices in the game.

A rip of every Roy voice in Melee can be found here by the way, incase anyone is going to convert and doesn't want to rip directly from Melee.

Bizarre request time.

I need the/a FitMarth.pac that has Roy's moveset (V2, preferably), yet
all of Marth's animations still.

...Or failing that, somehow taking the current Roy PSA and
making the down taunt be Marth's "Minna miteite kure" one,
B being Marth's Brawl Shield Breaker,
And restoring all 3 of Marth's victory dance things.

Unless someone can give me instructions on how to do this myself.

Seeing as how, for example, Roy's down taunt is Shield breaker's charging
animation for now, editing the actual Down taunt will do nothing to change
this.

*fiddles with Brawlbox* Heh heh. Still getting acquainted with this thing,
but I made some really funny and bizarre animations so far. X3
(For testing purposes...Sans the first 6-8 frames of counter, but that went
kinda awry...)

EDIT: Wanted to show a snapshot I took of the counter so far...
...But I'm having some trouble resolving that...
...Stupid .bin files ;_;

(Also, anyone that can supply me with/help me alter the existing PSA
to give it Marth's moves would be appreciated.

As, don't forget, Roy's PSA recycles certain animations, so I wouldn't
be able to attempt to re-create his victory dances, as those currently
use his 3rd and 4th DOWN attacks from his Side B, and his down smash...

Down taunt is Marth's charging B move looped etc...)


EDIT:

Can I have any sort of control over when his eyes and mouth open in
any way? Kinda wanna keep his peepers open mid-counter.
...
And to...Not have such a non-chalant expression across his visage whilst
he, God forbid, drowns ;_;


MEGA EDIT:
Can I simply select the entire model and drag it towards the ground
somehow in BrawlBox, or am I gonna have to fix his floating the hard way,
via bone fiddlin'? ;_;

Uhh...Well, I'm not sure to be honest.

As of now, I'm just going to edit animations, and I
guess the FitMarthMotionEtc thing could be applied to either
really.
(Though, I personally prefer using the one with the auto-L canceling.
I forget which one that is, prolly the Brawl+ one maybe?)

So...If the motionetc thing is interchangeable like that, I guess that gives
anyone the freedom of picking whichever Roy they wanna use ^w^

Thany, practice makes the master, keep messing with Animations around, they'll come out better everytime! I'm impressed with this Animation you did, really, very nice one for a first try! o_o

Question.

Could I make the animation, and send it to someone ELSE to fix any of that stupid
floating I keep running into?
(Brawlbox can't seem to display the floating issues I run into,
it only pops up in-game...Plus his sword arm goes friggin' nuts when set to 1/4 speed.
...ALSO not visible in BB -_-)

Eh...Failing that, I guess I'll....Try to fiddle with it until it stops being dumb.(Frame 1 has his feet
on the ground...Then frame 2 starts levitating...4-5 is where it all goes wrong -_-)

As I have a(slightly wooden, and by that I mean rather stiff looking) counter animation
done...With the floating -_- (LowSpecial. The counter on the ground sans the counter-attack)

Also the red slashes that accompany the PSA look...Bland to me.

Like...SO bland that they show up as white-ish or a pale pink unless the background is
completely black. Just throwing that out there. Maybe a more vibrant colour for his sword
trails awaits in the future...?

And, not to sound like a broken record, buuut...

All I can tell from this point is that editing animations, via fiddling with the
fitmotionetc, that Roy no longer has access to will not result in Shield Breaker
becoming a "true" Flare Blade, or those troublesome victory things... ;_; )

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny help would be absolutely appreciated with that,
otherwise the victory animations I will make will have to be exported, and...Well,
sit around rotting on my comp until then I guess...

Just PM'd a request to get help from Croi with the sound effects
for Roy. Yay... *burns out*

Just a quick recap on sound hacks:

Every single sound in the game is held in one single massive file, so I'd have to edit that giant file to get your sounds into the game. This is no big deal, but asking me to make separate .brsar files for each sound is kind of lol. For anybody that's not familiar with sound hacks, though, it's an easy mistake to make.

As for your actual request, replacing an entire character's VA is very long work. Like, start to finish, it took me eight hours to complete Ganondorf, so it takes me an entire day to do these things, which is time I simply don't have to spare lately. Compared to rebuilding a character like what you're doing, that may seem like a drop in the pond, but...

I'll see what I can do, but I can't make any promises. I've had, like, three other ideas for VA switches, and not the time to do them. Since you gave me Roy's voices all at once, that's half my work right there, so that's a plus, at least.

It's just sooo irritating that BrawlBox displays it as being fine, yet going into an
actual match he's all weird...

Plus the Wii and the comp are in 2 different rooms, booting up B+ to check the
thing in-game takes about 2+ minutes, and only 5 seconds for me to see a problem
of sorts and go "AGGGG... >_< " and storm back to the comp.

Plus that gives me more incentive to get back to making animations ^w^
(Should I EMail the chr.0 files to you?)


Community project hell yeah.

Just PM me the files you are using for this project, I also want to try this out lol, just send me the FitMarth.pac, FitMarth00.pac or pcs, and the FitMarthMotionEtc.pac and tell me which animations need the "floating" issue fixed. An SVN is basically a program that allows people to do work, then commit it so that the other SVN people can use it. It's like a community project uploader so to speak. Well, actually, I've been saying we need to edit the PSA (Broken recorrrrrrrrrrrrd.)
and re-map Marth's moves back into place, but I guess the FitMarth.pac is the

Also! I'm noticing the image you placed.. He's swinging downward with his sword backward? To which animation was this planned, since I'm seeing a red trail I'm guessing either Flare Blade or Dragon Slayer (aka, F-smash.. >_>)

Oh, and also I made a mistake in a previous post.. I was saying that his ARC should be greater, not the radius... >,< Pointing to what Marth's swings are like, his Up-Air and D-Air don't have as much arc range as they did in Melee, which for Roy would be worth it. Half-Moon Slash should be a Half-Moon, not a little Crescent.

Yes, I know that it's a terrible screenshot.. =-= But you get the idea, he had a swing that started above him and then out to horizontal on the other side... an arc of roughly 250 degrees... ish.

PSA and give him at least his unique animations he had in Melee.

Do you know how to map moves to certain buttons or things like
victory dances? As there is something we kinda need to edit
that I've been on like a broken rec-*SHOT*

Aside from that, if Croi is unable to do the Roy sounds, maybe you could do it?

Gonna have to PM Croi and tell him that we should use the Brawl announcer's
voice saying "Royyy...." for the Character Select, in case he finds the time.

(Would've wanted to get make a new recording for "Roy's our Boy!" too, but I have no
microphone or anything, so that'd be up to others, should they be up to the task...

Oh! My enchanting voice goes to waste once more...But I'm sick now anyway,
so I sound awful...Anywhoo... >.>')

Well...I'd kinda prefer a "Brawlified" version of "Roy's our Boy",
as none of the other fighters had re-used cheers...

...But I guess Roy is...A special case.

I want to make him be as official a character as the rest of the Brawl Roster,
or come as humanly close as we can manage.

Also, How's the work on fixing my counter animation going?
(You got the files, right? I didn't send that somewhere wrong by accident, did I? o_o''''')

Quick question about this. Is this project developing into a near exact replica of Melee Roy? Or are you guys going to try and create a different character (one that feels significantly different to Marth rather than being a fiery clone?) I hope the latter because if so I'll be pretty damn interested to see how this turns out.
