Brawlbox doesnt allow you to do anyhting with .brsars. u need smashbox
Wait what? Perhaps I'm missing something here :embarrass: I am at the first step, with WAV files of the songs I want in Brawl. What programs do I use/steps do I take to be able to convert the songs into the correct format?

Thanks.

Do custom animations change the position of hurtboxes?
Nope.

could anyone tell me exactly where to put effect pacs? Like the ones for altering sonics spindash aura?
Are you talking about FitSonic.pac? That goes in your texture folder with your Sonic textures and stuff.

Brawlbox. Open Brawlbox, and click new, then go to Brstm Audio Stream, then open your WAV file from there.

If this doesn't work, there are two other BRSTM converters that I know of that you should try.

One's on the resource page of BrawlVault, so try that first, and if you're desperate I can link you to another converter.

I has question (which I have HIGH doubts of it ever being answered here).

How exactly do I edit the RGBAPixel[] Array numbers. I have tried almost everything, and it just totally ignores what I put in there. Clicking on the dots brings up another menu, but it also ignores everything ever.

Yeah, the answers are a bit late, but I'm going to try to make it a goal to help people in this thread, since I'm still learning the ropes and I know how frustrating it is when people lazily don't bother helping, even with the tiniest things. :p
Yes, they do. Hurtboxes are attached to bones. As the bone moves throughout the animation, so does the hurtbox.
My apologies, you're right. I recalled reading on a Lucario animation swap about it being Wi-Fi safe, so I thought hurtboxes wouldn't move. Alas I have a terrible memory.

Where might I be able to find a download of the default .pcs's for each character? I've never been into high-level editing and just want to do some touch ups to Brawl's dull colours.
http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/Resources.php

Bottom of the page, look for data partition 2 for NTSC.

In that, look for the "fighter" folder and download that.

IF you want to edit Fit<character>.pac files that have effects in it (Example, changing Marth's sword trail, or Sonic's Spindash aura), make sure to get the right region. Since PAL and NTSC effect files don't really work well together. If you have the wrong one, usually your character won't have sound.

If you're using just the normal textures such as Fit<character>00.pac, then these should be universal.

Yeah, make a note that Firefox, especially older versions (I'm running 3.somethingorother) don't work with Mediafire, so I actually do the same as you and just copy paste the link into Chrome (Or heaven forbid, IE) and it works a charm.

Glad I could help. |D

Yeah, the uploaders didn't get all the files.

There's this thread here: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=238697&highlight=files+videos+texture+hacking+tools

That MIGHT have the files you're looking for, but you don't need the .pcs file anyway, since you can make one yourself by opening the .pac file, going to Save As in BrawlBox and saving it as a .pcs file extension.

Edit:

Also I do believe a large majority of Pokemon Trainer textures aren't in that one I linked above. I have no idea why they're missing, but it shouldn't matter. :king:

Ahdunnuh, it just would have been nice to have all the original psc.'s anyway since I'm basically just giving them higher saturation levels by and large. I did make a rainbow pit that didn't turn out too bad.

Anyone know why a stage texture hack would go from "fine to load" to "freeze game upon selection"?

Explain in more detail.

What's "fine to load"?

Edit:

I'll go out on a limb here and ask what texture you're trying to use. Is it from BrawlVault? Or have you made it yourself?

ok, I'm making a texture by myself: converting Port Town into Planet Wisp.

I converted about, 30% of the texture files lets say into what I wanted so far, but then when I hit like, 40%, I could no longer select it on stage select without the game freezing (and going whiiiirrrrrrrrrrrr).

What could have caused this? (Info I can give: I did change the resolution on like 2 pictures to better accomadate some stuff... could that have done it?)

You changed the resolution?

As in made the image bigger than the original that was in the pac file itself? (example: it was originally 512x512 and you made it 1024x1024?) That's probably a no-no.

Also sometimes making the pac file too large in size can freeze the game sometimes.

yeah, the resolution thing got me I believe (was trying to make the grass on the "ground" not look as pixelated, and it showed up fine in the BBox preview)

Will try and fix that...

There's nothing wrong with increasing the resolution of a texture as long as you have space for it. Larger resolution textures take up more space which probably pushed you over the file size limit.

Size limits are usually not much bigger than the original size, yeah.

I've only ever tried resolution changes once, and it crashed immediately, so lol.

Not sure if this has been answered before here, but I don't feel like searching through endless posts. Anyways, how do I make a new slot for a new character in the custom stage selection in brawl? Say, if I wanted to add the custom characters waluigi or Pichu how would I go about adding them in without having to remove a default character?

ok, ran into another problem regarding lighting...

I want the main platform (the one you ride) to not have the shiny blue effect, but I cannot seem to get rid of it, and even deleting the texture for it still recolors what I have under that "lighting" layer... how can I fix that?

I Need help - my game keeps freezing as soon as I push start to go to the SSS screen because I have been trying to adjust a few of my stage select icons and previews through brawlbox. I have made sure that every image I replaced was the same resolution in pixels, and I have made it so that the new selmap.pac file is smaller than the original one (but not by much). Does the new file need to be the exact same size as the original?

Any ideas what is causing it to freeze?

btw I am using the original stage select screen with no mods or codes to change it. Is that the problem - do I need a custom SSS or code to adjust stage icons and previews?

If you've got modified files you're trying to run, you will need a file patch code...
There are codes for the stage select screen, but I do not know if they apply to this.

hmm, actually... is it at all possible to replace the stage of port town 9the platform you fly around on) with the one from Halberd?

You mean adding edges to it? I'm pretty sure I saw a Frigate mod where that was done.

Excuse me, I've come to a bit of a road block.
First off, I'm using SmashStack and Phantom Wings's SD card loading software and my experience with Wii modding is limited to Homebrew installation and successful Super Smash Bros Brawl texture and move-set swaps.

I'm interested in both model swapping and move editing, but every time I open Brawlbox v0.63d, it says "Brawlbox v0.63d has encountered a problem and needs to shut down". I already have framework 3.5 installed, but the error persists.
When Brawlbox failed me, I turned to PSA, or Project Smash Attacks. Guides for the program say that I should put my preferred pac files in the Smash Attacks's Data folder "then click on the .exe file". The issue is, I see no such thing. I read something or other about switching from a decimal system to hexadecimal via "MS calculator", but I don't know where to find such a program.

Any help would be monumentally appreciated.

I'm just going to repeat this here since everybody refuses to reply to the topic I made. I will CONTINUE to bump said topic until I get a relevant answer. I must say, the support here is bloody dismal. >.>

Ok, so let me just start off by saying that since almost all of the obj importing tutorials (except for one) on this subject around the great vastness of advertisement and pornography that is the internet, end at the creation of a .brres file, I have most likely done this completely wrong due to lack of detailed information.

So I have the .brres file seemingly functional, it looks nice, the collision seems in order, and I'm pretty sure the spawns, positions and barriers are all set. What information is lacking is how to COMPILE all of this random data into a pac file that can be run in game, therefor I did what I figured would work; I took the Final Destination pac file, replaced all the relevant data with my own, and it still insists on crashing the game before the level even appears on screen.

Below is the link to the pac file I have exported. Can somebody please explain to me why this is crashing the game and what I'm doing wrong to cause it?
http://www.mediafire.com/?koa2k574khrld4d

EDIT: Here's a similarly broken pac file, compiled this time over Melee Temple, (a stage with minimal extra data needing to be erased, leaving less room for error.): http://www.mediafire.com/?j4lld47e94w9wlt

So since there doesn't seem to be a general Q&A, I'll ask this here. What is the file directory for BRSTMs? It's all well and fine to name them properly, but I can only assume they don't, for instance, go on the root of the SD card.

So, I'm trying to edit the materials on the Alloy trophies for research purposes, and I tried simply removing the alpha channel from the Zako*02 textures, but that didn't appear to do the trick (the spheres and the line geometry on the stomach are still translucent, just more vivid).

I apparently need to turn the alpha off from the material settings itself (I already know it's the 'MatClear' one, but I don't quite know how yet). Using BrawlBox .65b, how would I do this?

two questions:

-how do you make eye textures visible in preview animations? i can't figure it out

-when you're applying hitboxes in the new brawlbox, how do you make sure you're selecting the right ones?

thanks!
