'Tis always fun to rip apart terrible fiction.
Including fanfiction albeit that being an easy target. :p
I can remember back when anticipation for Mighty No. 9 was high and there were quite a lot of people hyped for it's release....yeah....

And... huh? I'm seriously amazed that the game is getting anything like that after it's huge failure, especially after that much time has passed.
Well yeah, it was essentially a spiritual successor to Mega Man... one that completely missed what made those games fun. Just looking at it, I could tell there were plenty of things wrong like there being things that you can do that are never taught to you.

The ports were planned to be released last year but got majorly delayed and apparently progress stopped entirely at one point but they're working on it again. Strange, I know.

A very easy target.

At least in general. Because specific fics can be obscure and hard to discover, but yeah. :p

Fun as it is to pick on it, I do think it's a shame it turned out the way it did. It had potential in the beginning, in my opinion, but the developers ultimately botched up just about everything they could.

It is strange Although, I don't know how much of a difference it's gonna make at this point, considering it's reputation.

Clearly the best thing to come out of S7E10 :p
KingofPhantoms KingofPhantoms am I right? For the above? :p

...admittedly I thought that was pretty funny.

Seriously speaking, the best part (for me anyway) was simply the fact that it's actually a Celestia and Luna episode (and a good one, at that).

Even better is watching people actually read the garbage out loud. That means less time spent searching for horrible fanfiction and more time spent laughing at it.

It seemed like it was going to be good but reality set in with all the delays and poor communication.

It seems more like them just trying to live up to their promise of those versions existing. It will make zero difference to the game's reputation.

I don't think I've ever really tried that myself.

...I've seen videos reading forum posts out though if that counts.

Yeah, unfortunately....and there were probably more reasons as to why it turned out like it did, but those were the two major ones, for sure.

I'm just wondering how well those versions are going to sell. Probably not well, but surely some people are going to buy it (some, of course, simply from honestly not knowing exactly what to expect).

They do exist. Considering what's on sites like Youtube, that sort of thing is perfectly reasonable.

Most definitely.

Not very well, I can tell you that much. It's not like Shovel Knight where the game was still relevant and had console exclusive content and 3 new campaigns coming when it came out on the PS4 and Xbox One. Even now, that game has more content coming soon. Mighty No. 9 isn't really relevant now nor does it have any new content coming in combination to the reviews it got and you have a good case of "why bother?"

I'm not surprised, but I've never watched any myself that I can recall.

That sounds accurate to me.

I think it's fair to consider Mighty No. 9 all but dead at this point (although, wasn't it supposed to get a cartoon, too? Whatever happened to that?)

I think that may have been a potential thing that could have happened had the game not bombed but I'm not sure.

Ah. I saw what was apparently a teaser for an animated series of it recently (literally just hours earlier today) so I was rather confused about that. It was released all the way back in 2014. With nothing having come out of it at this point, nothing probably ever will.

Yeah, they probably should have waited till the game actually came out before banking their chances on a cartoon.
Also that Red Ash game Comcept worked on is only a month away from its supposed release date and yet nothing of the game has been shown, like, at all. In fact, I haven't heard anything of the game ever since it was announced that some company would finance the game after the failed Kickstarter.

Reminds me of the Disney film Treasure Planet in a way.
Disney wanted that movie to have its own sequel and tv show, but it bombed hard since at the time it was released, CGI movies were novelty. Not many people wanted to see CGI stuff, and this was all because Shrek was simply too popular. In a way, Shrek killed 2D animation for movies. Then Disney mad their own shrek in the form of chicken little, and despite it being a pretty bad movie, it made tons and tons of money....

It was a rather brief search attempt, but I couldn't find anything on it either other than a very, very, very small amount of artwork (like only the logo and apparently some of it's characters, if those things count).

....I wonder how this game is going to turn out. And how it's going to be received when nobody has much of, if any, idea what to expect from it.

It seems like it won't turn out well but I think it either got delayed or silently cancelled and they haven't said anything about it. I dunno, I'm just making guesses here. They would have shown something about that game by now so the fact that it still has its release date is strange to me when they haven't even shown anything.

I don't really know
I finished the game years ago but haven't really played it since
I revisited it today
and
I don't really like it
the level design for the most part is
to put it lightly
subpar

Well, I think compared to the first two games it's sub-par (especially A2), but I don't think the level design is straight up "bad." Yeah, Route 99 and Ocean Base in particular feel clunky, but I like a lot of the other levels.

My personal favorite is Chaos Angel. It's really fun to play through.

My A3 level ranking would be:

1. Chaos Angel
2. Sunset Hill
3. Toy Kingdom
4. Twinkle Snow

5. Cyber Track
6. Route 99
7. Ocean Base

These are color coded for your convenience -nbm-

Advance 1 is definitely my favorite
I have more fun with 3 than 2 though
2 feels like hold right simulator at times
And wew the air dash is broken
Removes all air friction lol

I have a soft spot for 3, but if I'm being an objective critic, 2 is the best. It has the best level design, has great speed, has simply gameplay and yet it's really fun, and you don't have mechanics that leave you with conflicted feelings.

Now if I were to grade the level design of each level in the Advance trilogy, it would go...

S:
Techno Base (2)

A:
Hot Crater (2)
Music Plant (2)
Chaos Angel (3)
Egg Rocket (1)

B:
Secret Base (1)
Egg Utopia (2)
Sunset Hill (3)
Toy Kingdom (3)
Casino Paradise (1)
Leaf Forest (2)
Twinkle Snow (3)
Sky Canyon-every other character (2)
Angel Island (1)

C:
Ice Mountain (1)
Neo Green Hill (1)
Cyber Track (3)

D:
Ice Paradise (2)
Cosmic Angel (1)
Route 99 (3)
Ocean Base (3)
Sky Canyon-Sonic story (2)

F:
-none, because none of them are inherently broken-

14 (this is like a quantum double post)
2 just never really clicked with me.
wasn't able to enjoy it. I played it all the way through too.

2 is super fun to speed run for me, since it's the fastest game and has the best level design. It's also the hardest. Provides a good challenge.

But yeah, my fav Advance trilogy level is definitely Techno Base. The music is amazing, the level is challenging but not cheap, the theme and background is way cool, and there are many paths you can take, making it fun to explore.

I remember a long time ago when I noticed you had the newest account on the sonic center and you said it was for advance 2 lol
I remember those days haha. I loved the speedrunning...but once I fell into depression, I lost interest in playing it. I haven't picked the game back up since August of last year.
