Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a team based First person Shooter. Featuring the Frostbite 2 engine with "Destruction 2.0", Bad Company 2 aims to blow the competion away...literally.

Features

Single Player

http://battlefield.wikia.com/wiki/Battlefield:_Bad_Company_2#Singleplayer

The single player trailer shows the return of the original gang of Battlefield: Bad Company. B-Company is now chasing what appears to be a super weapon created by the Russian Federation, and is again sent in before other army units. Evidently however, the role of B-company has seem to have been elevated from their previous role as cannon fodder and a group of troublemakers, instead seeming to appear more as a a small unit of special forces. The game seems to have a more serious mood than the first game.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_Bad_Company_2

The single player campaign is roughly 10 hours in length with 11 missions and features the same characters from the first game.
The game's prologue, as revealed through an ESRB rating explanation, takes place on an "unnamed Japanese island in the Pacific." The prologue introduces the player to a secret weapon with incredible power, the very same weapon drives the campaign and has Bad Company going along the West coast of North and South America.
The campaign will feature jungles in South America, snow-capped mountains in Alaska, and everything in between.

The first Bad Company game ended with the B-Company squad driving off with a truck full of gold; however, the cause of them losing their gold and ending up back under Army Command is a well-kept secret by DICE. The player controls Preston Marlowe who is part of B-Company squad, a group of misfits and Army rejects. The campaign is said to be more linear than the first, which often consisted of vast areas with only a start point and an endpoint, and a variety of ways to get between the two. The more linear style allows the player to experience more scripted and exciting missions, but still gives the player a choice in how to approach situations.

Multiplayer

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_Bad_Company_2#Multiplayer

The "Gold Rush" mode in the original Bad Company is referred to simply as "Rush" in Bad Company 2. The format is similar in that an attacking team must detonate explosives on a defending team's crates. The attacking team succeeds by eliminating all the crates on the map, and the defending team succeeds if the attackers are not able to eliminate the crates in the active area before their tickets are depleted. Making use of the Destruction 2.0 system, it is also possible to eliminate some of the crates by collapsing the building they are in on top of them. A smaller scale mode called "Squad Rush" was confirmed that has only two opposing teams of four players battle against each other with one existing crate stash.

Multiplayer will allow players to choose from a set of weapon kits before each spawn, the number of which has been further reduced from Bad Company's five down to four: Assault, Engineer, Recon, and Medic (with the Specialist kit being the one removed). In addition to the hand grenades and sidearms standard for all classes, each class also has an initial primary weapon and a pair of gadgets unique to that class. A customizable weapon selection menu is also new to the Bad Company series (similar to unlocks in Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142). Gaining experience points allows a player to unlock and use different weapons and gadgets, some only usable by a given class and some available to any class that player uses. There are also unlockable items that can modify the game's firearms, such as ACOGs, reflex sights, and short or long barrel grenade launchers.

The experience points used to unlock the above items will be awarded for performing actions conducive to the goals of the player's team, such as eliminating enemy players, healing teammates, or capturing or defending points of interest. Bonuses to the base number of points can be awarded under certain circumstances (such as achieving a headshot in the process of eliminating an enemy player). A dog tag system as seen in Battlefield 2142 and Battlefield: Bad Company returns, awarding players trophies of sorts in the form of opponents' dog tags when they defeat the opponent with a melee attack.

On October 19, 2009, game developer DICE posted a Twitter announcement stating the game will have dedicated server support. This was in response to Infinity Ward's announcement on October 17 that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would not support dedicated servers. Players will also be able to use party chat for each game mode.

The thread title is incorrect. It's actually "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" and I don't know where you got the 'general' part.

And it's not being released for the PS2 or original Xbox...

There. I'm a bit more clear now.

Also the PS2 and the Xbox part came from some old Battlefield game. I think it was called Modern Combat. Sounds familiar.

At first, I thought this was one of those idiotic threads made by the newbies of SWF, because you spelt 'Battlefield' incorrectly. :)

Thanks for pointing it out. Fixed it now.

And on Topic, Demo is awesome. I'm going to buy it when it comes out. It feels like a more balanced game that Modern Warfare 2.

I'm trying the demo now, and it's slow as ****. 14% after like, 20 minutes.

Played my first match, it's actually pretty fun. Might buy it, but they maps are pretty big. I needed to find a vehicle of some sort. Oh well, still fun.

I almost think it's dominated by Vehicles. Someone, prove me wrong.

I mean, it's good, but I hope there's some sort of... smaller, vehicle-less maps.

Yea, there's a game mode for that kind of stuff. Squad Rush.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ED2EiCAMTs

It's Rush with only 8 players. Its only exclusive for 30 days on the consoles if you didn't preorder the game and its already unlocked on the P.C versions.

Pretty much its Counter Strike in Battlefield.

New info came out today for Bad company 2. EA's 10 Dollar Project, posed to halt preowned sales, revealed its Day one "DLC" for Bad Company 2

EA's "Project Ten Dollar" initiative marches on in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, with four multiplayer maps included on the disc, unlocked via VIP codes found only in new copies of the game.

Using the VIP code that comes packed in every new copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, players will be able to unlock two new maps upon the game's release - Laguna Alta for Conquest mode and Nelson Bay for Rush mode. Later in March, players with codes will unlock Arica Harbor for Conquest and Laguna Presa for Rush.
EA or Kotaku has commented that these maps ARE on the disc...so sucks for people who buy used...

Also for any Modern Warfare 2 players who are thinking of transitioning into Bad Company 2....you may want to take a look at this video.

I already got the bullet drop (aim above head, sometimes I feel like that happens more often than aim AT the head).

I also got the spotting thing, and the "move up with team" thing as well (I already do that in MW2, if I had been playing that), but the "use specific classes under specific circumstances" is a bit troublesome (I typically use a sniper kit,, even when it is a primarily offensive game)

Fortunately, the Recon Kit is a bit more like my type of sniper kit, so yay.

Haha score.

I managed to finally elevate my Battlefield Veteran Rank to level 1, while it should be higher (I have 1942, 1942 expansions and Vietnam) you only need to be a Vet to obtain the M1 Garand.

Easiest way I found to do it is to get a Battlefield Heroes account and another Battlefield game. With any luck Bad Company 2 will get registered and it will contribute to your vet level.

Uncharted 2 mp kinda sucks now so I'll probably be picking this up. The demo was great as long as the games weren't one sided and your team mates weren't all fu*cking snipers.

I hope I'm not the only one with a ps3, lol. Would be nice to play with people who actually know what they're doing. Too bad I'm mic-less.

IGN rates primary reviews the SINGLEPLAYER Of Bad Company 2

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/107/1072632p1.html

Gives it a 8.9. From what I can tell, Singleplayer is still no Micheal Bay movie, kinda fall short. Xbox 360 version seems to have some glitchy loading times in the single player as well. But I STILL cannot get over the fact that he said multiplayer maps end abrutly when the match is won. Oh well.

Biggest issue here with IGN seems to be the singleplayer, then again the single player is a big tutorial for multiplayer (teaching you how to spot, fly Helo's, drive, ect.) so if I need to learn how to fly I'll head there.

Game Informer gives it a 9.5, according to EA and people who recived the magazine.

Overall massive praise, not as big as Modern Warfare 2's, but its expected.

Haha I'm in the same boat with the mics. Since the demo didn't have the Smoke grenade launcher, we couldn't chase away the recons. But I'm sure when we get the full game, Recon Rock is going to go up in smoke.

The hell? BC1's singleplayer was just hilarious and pretty original, too. How often do you come across a game where you end up fighting the bad guys just to end up stealing a whole truck's worth of gold?

Spotting I suppose I could agree, but not the driving thing. It took me just two game to learn how to fly a helicopter. All I did was think about how helis in real life slow down and then you go 'Ohhhh...' and bam, problem solved. And driving ground vehicles you could do on the first try if you have the patience.

Kelly's Heroes. Pretty much Bad Company 1 kinda had its plot based on Kelly's Heroes. But despite the fact that it was, it had some pretty nice twists.

I unlocked the F2000 and SV98 last night. At first the F2000 sucked, but I soon got used to its high rate of fire (I think its the highest out of non SMG's), and it kicks *** with the red dot attachment

The SV98 is pretty **** awesome as well. Its a beeffed up M24. About to unlock the 12x scope soon.
