Intro

Show Me Your Moves, the longest running tournament series in the world, is back for its 16th installment on August 29th and 30th this year! The two day tournament featuring Melee, Project M, Smash 4 Wii U, and Smash 64 run by midwest TOs, Ripple and Merza, is being held this year in a brand new venue that boasts 26,000 square feet of room for spectators as well as competitors, gigabit internet to simultaneously provide three streams on Twitch, projectors for every stream for the live crowd, and a full food court in the basement for the convinience of anyone who attends. The tournament has long featured some of the best players in the midwest, including Kels, Vro, Dart!, Matt R and Darkrain for melee, and Ripple, Oro, Scythe, and Metroid for PM; along with up and comers from the local scene such as 0PRZ, 7ent, and Sizzle.

There is a Parking garage right across the street from this church. It is free on weekends after 5 on Friday. It goes until 6am Monday morning. and...

Parking at any of the parking meters directly surrounding the venue is FREE on weekends! This includes the red ones in front of the building, all the Meters in the lot to the east of the Union, and the Meters on the sides of the Union! Most of the Meters say enforced 24/7 but I have 100% confirmed that the meters on Illini Union property are not enforced on the weekends. Make sure that you double check the meter if you are parking in public streets!

Schedule

We are trying something unique for SMYM 16. Even though this will be a 2 day event, any event you enter will complete in 1 day. So if you can only make it for 1 day, you can choose an event to enter on that day and it will still complete.

Day 1 - Saturday, August 29th

*pools consist of Melee double, PM doubles, and Smash 4 Singles. Doubles will be bracket pools and Smash 4 will be round robin. If you are in Multiple events, Melee takes priority over other events. once finished, PM becomes prioritized, then finally Smash 4.*

9am-10am - Registration + Setup
10am-12pm - Pools Wave 1
12pm-2pm - Pools Wave 2
2pm-4pm - Pools Wave 3
4pm-5pm - Dinner Break
5pm-7pm - Project M doubles
7pm-9pm - Melee doubles Top 8
9pm-11pm - Smash 4 Singles top 8

Day 2 - Sunday, August 30th

*pools consist of Melee, PM, and Smash 64 Singles. If you are in Multiple events, Smash 64 takes priority over other events. once finished, Melee becomes prioritized, then finally PM.*

9am-10am - Registration + Setup
10am-12pm - Pools Wave 1
12pm-2pm - Pools Wave 2
2pm-4pm - Pools Wave 3
4pm-5pm - Dinner Break
5pm-7pm - Smash 64 Top 8
7pm-9pm - Melee Top 8
9pm-11pm - Project M Top 8

As a clarification, even though events have designated time slots, the events will all be running simultaneously until we get to the point where where there is only the top 8 left and then wait until a designated time slot to begin

Rulesets

Smash 64
will be using the Apex 2014 Rule set

Dreamland is the only stage

•5 Stocks, Best of 3 Games. Best of 5 Games for: Winners Semis, Winners Finals, Losers Quarters, Losers Semis, Losers Finals and Grand Finals
•Items are disabled.
•Any stage may be played on if both players agree to it.
•DSR: You cannot pick a stage you've already won on during the set, unless agreed.
•Accidental pausing results in a loss of the current stock and a restart of the match at the resulting stock counts. The opponent can choose to forego the restart
•Players may request that Black DK (Right-C), Dark Samus (Down-C) and Dark Falcon (Right-C) not be used if Congo Jungle is the stage. The opposing player may reset the match without penalty if they wish for a color change if neither player have taken damage.
•Alternate or custom controllers/adapters such as a keyboard, Gamecube controller or a Hori Mini Pad are allowed. Players suspected of using turbo functions or other macros are subject to immediate disqualification.

Melee (different than usual)

Starters/Neutrals/Counterpick:
Yoshi’s Story
Fountain of Dreams
Battlefield
Final Destination
Dream Land

STADIUM IS BANNED FOR SINGLES

in doubles. Fountain of Dreams is banned and stadium is legal instead

There will be No Bans regardless of Pools or bracket

•A player/team may not counterpick to the stage they last won on IF THEY PICKED IT. This includes the first match won via stage striking.

General

•Items are set to off
•Stock and time are set to 4 stock and 8 minutes, respectively
•Wobbling is legal. Wobbling past 250% will be considered stalling and is not allowed.
•Double Blind: If elected
•Contest Port Priority: If elected
•Neutral Start: If elected
•Gentleman’s Clause: Any stage may be played on if both players agree to it. This rule takes priority over DSR. Players may NOT agree to change the number of matches to be played.
•Forced Character Selection: Off
•Matches that time out will be determined by the remaining number of lives, then percentage of the current stock. In the event of a percentage tie, the match should be replayed in full. Sudden Death is not to be played, and will not count.
•Pausing the game shall only be legal while either player remains upon their OWN respawn platform, and only for the purpose of summoning a tournament official or in the case of a controller malfunction. All other pauses will incur a stock loss to the player who pauses the game.
•Any coaching that happens during the match (but not in between matches) is restricted. Players who violate this rule will receive a warning (BOTH the player AND the person coaching the player) on the first attempt. Players who violate this rule after a warning will be disqualified from the event and a possible ejection from the venue.
•Players are to attend their matches at the designated times they are called. If you are late to a match, the following rules will be applied based on the amount of time:
•If you are 5 minutes late: Results in a match loss
•If you are 10 minutes late: Results in a set loss
•These times will be strictly enforced to make sure that each player will enjoy the full event on a timely manner.
•Winning player of the preceding match bans a stage/stages (if applicable).
•For Best of 5 sets, there are no stage bans.

Project M Rule Set

All general rules that apply to melee, apply to PM
*Warioman and Gigabowser are banned

due to 3.6 coming out recently, a stage list will be determined at a later date

Smash 4

Starters/Neutrals:

Dreamland 64
Town & City

* If Battlefield is banned, Miiverse in turn is banned as well. Both stages treated as one and the same.

Counterpicks:
Castle Siege
Delfino Plaza

Halberd
Kongo Jungle 64 (Doubles only)
Lylat Cruise
Omega Stages**

** Treated as Final Destination in banning phase. If Final Destination is banned, Omega Stages are banned and vice versa.
General Rules
•Stock and time are set to 2 stock and 6 minutes for Singles
•Stock and time are set to 3 stock and 8 minutes for Doubles
•Custom Fighters are set to off
•Mii Fighters are legal. Each setup will have 1111 Mii Brawlers/Swordsmen/Gunners available for use (Using Default Miis provided on console). No other specials for Mii Fighters will be allowed. Players are not allowed to transfer existing Miis to a setup.
•All DLC characters are legal (Mewtwo, Lucas, Roy, Ryu - as of 6/21/2015)
•Stage Striking: Players engage in a battle of RPS best of 1. Winner strikes the first stage. Loser then strikes the next two stages. Winner strikes the last one effectively choosing the first stage they play on. (1-2-1)
•DSR: A player/team may not pick any stage they previously won on during the set.
•Stage Bans: During the stage ban phase, the player who won the previous game may ban 2 stages from either the Starter or Counter-pick lists.
•Self-destruct Moves: If a match ends with the successful use of a character’s selfdestruct move, the player that initiated the self destruct move wins the match regardless of what the results screen states. Selfdestruct moves include only Ganondorf’s Side B, King Dedede’s Neutral B, Wario’s Neutral B, Bowser’s Side B and Kirby’s Neutral B.
•Team Colors: Players’ character colors must match their team's color when possible, to avoid confusion (ex: Luigi on the green team must use the green costume).
•Alternate Controllers: The Wii U Gamepad, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo 2DS are banned from use as controllers. All other controllers are acceptable for this event.

READ VERY CAREFULLY: GameCube Controllers are Preferred for tournament use because they are wired direct to the console (GameCube Adapters will be at every station), However Wii-Motes & WiiU Pro Controllers are allowed. WiiU GamePads are banned. If you choose to use a Wireless Controller(Wii-mote,3DS or WiiU Pro Controller) you agree to de-sync & turn off your controller immediately after your match is done & make staff members aware of your wireless controller. Failure to do so which may cause interference in another tournament match will get you disqualified without refund from the Tournament in either Doubles or Singles. This is to prevent wireless controllers from ruining another player's event experience but I would like to allow players to use their preferred controller so they can attend the event.

We will be making announcements in the near future regarding players that we will be funding to come out and compete!

This event is going to be the last SMYM that I'd be comfortable calling a regional, we're definitely going to be pushing national levels after this. We're expecting over 300 competitors, so come prepared!!!
