I. Introduction​

My name is Chi, also known in the community as clowsui. This is the sixth installment of events at Geeksboro Coffeehouse Cinema in Greensboro, North Carolina. Typically Brawl gets entries of 15-25 people, and PM and Melee get around 40-50 people. Individuals of all skill levels come to participate, many of the for the first time; and so far I have never had a dissatisfied customer. So if you live in the NC area and are interested in joining the community, come on out!

II. Venue Information​

Geeksboro Coffeehouse Cinema, located at 2134 Lawndale Drive, Greensboro, NC, is as you might guess a coffee parlor. The venue owner is interested in showcasing and providing a space for gaming communities in order to show off the positive power of gaming. As we all know, the Smash community is much like a family for all its members. So you might say that this venue is perfect for us. But how about some concrete details about the place?

- 8 TVs already at the venue and available for us to use, meaning we can support up to 30-50 players on their equipment alone provided people bring systems.
- A HUGE amount of floor space
- Air conditioning
- Delicious beverages available for purchase
- Food nearby, including Chipotle very close by
- Did I mention delicious beverages available for purchase?
- Open until 2 a.m. on Saturdays
- Accessible by GTA, fairly close to highway

III. Fees and Ruleset​

VENUE FEE: $5 (Don't have to pay if paid the day before at Melee event)

PM OR BRAWL SINGLES ENTRY: $10 (negotiable)

PM DOUBLES ENTRY: $10 PER TEAM (also negotiable)


This tournament will be using the Apex 2014 PM Ruleset, found in its entirety at the following link:

Important highlights:

• Game Settings: 3 Stock, 8 Minute Time Limit, No Items, Pause Disabled, 2/3 Games
• First stage is decided by banning from the Starter Stages in P1-P2-P2-P1 order.
• Coaching only BETWEEN matches.
• Following stages decided by winner banning one stage from all stages and then loser choosing.
• Any matches that are best of five, there are no stage bans.
• You may not choose a stage you have already won on unless mutually agreed to.
• Double Blind Picks are allowed. Port Priority can be part of the Counterpicking Process also.
• Gentleman's Clause - where any stage or rule can be turned on provided both players or teams agree - is in effect this tournament.
• WINNERS FINALS, LOSERS FINALS AND GRAND FINALS ARE 3/5. ALL OTHER MATCHES ARE 2/3.
• If any players are found guilty of intentional underperformance or collusive behavior, the TOs reserve the right to withhold any winnings towards these individuals.
• PM Starter stages**:Battlefield, Final Destination, Smashville, Pokemon Stadium 2, Dreamland (64), Fountain of Dreams, Yoshi’s Story (Melee) (singles only), SSE: Jungle (doubles only)
  
  Counterpicks: Yoshi’s Island (Brawl), Pokemon Stadium 1, Lylat Cruise, Wario Ware, Green Hill Zone, Skyloft, Skyworld
• Brawl Starter Stages: TBD

IV. Payouts and Schedule​

IF THERE ARE LESS THAN 32 ENTRANTS TO AN EVENT:
1st 70% of pot size minus entry of third
2nd 30% of pot size minus entry of third
3rd ENTRY BACK

IF THERE ARE MORE THAN 32 ENTRANTS TO AN EVENT, BUT LESS THAN 64:
1st 50%
2nd 25%
3rd 15%
4th 10%

V. Miscellaneous​

- If you came to Melee the day before, you don't have to pay venue for today.
- I actually don't care about DQ'ing people. I'm pretty bad at saying no but I'malso pretty dead set on wanting to get out as early as possible. You should be too. Crews and side events are fun, and so is going out to eat.
- Try to take cool photographs at this event and post them up afterwards through IG/FB etc. If we see a lot, there will be chances for venue reduction too.

- Re: schedule. I obviously don't expect everything to go perfectly, but in the end all the shorter/longer matches should balance out and the small breaks that people take will balance out also. Trust me.
- Please be responsible and respectful. Smokers (of all kinds), please USE COMMON SENSE.

Can't wait to play in a tourney in one of the bigger areas. You don't really see them around here much. I remember the melee tourney a few months back had a big showing so let's hope the brawl people around here can go.

Here is the pre-registration form for PM/Brawl day at Geeksboro. Me and the other NC TOs would GREATLY appreciate it if those who are attending could fill this out in advance. We are looking into making our tournaments more timely and efficient. One simple yet important part of this improvement is figuring out ways to streamline bracket creation, and pre-registration assists us in this effort. More specifically, by having more information about the number of attendees and setups ahead of time, we are better able to coordinate our resources as well as have brackets ready in a flash so that way the process of entering and beginning the tournament is as streamlined as possible.

These are usually fairly sized. I can see PM pushing 60-70 entrants at this
