AI does nothing in certain situations

I was playing against a level 9 DK as olimar for two matches, and kirby for one. After DK would land to the ground after being knocked upwards, he would sometimes do absolutely nothing if I was ~3 Kirby lengths away (it's hard to describe) and not moving at all. He would continue to do nothing until I moved around.

I've had this happen in both 2.6b and 3.0. It appears that the AI just has nothing to do when you are just standing in certain spots.
