Introduction
Everyone loves the character Meta Knight, unless they play against him. I've seen so many people on tournaments that don't ban Meta Knight and even just plain games rage about how Meta Knight is too overpowered and there are at least five videos out there of just regular games with Meta Knight in them titled "This is why Meta Knight should be banned". They are usually posted because of the "Unfair" advantages over other players. And it is true. He does have an advantage over players. He can exploit any weakness or any sloppy play and turn it into a win. But he does have some weaknesses. Read this guide if you want to know how to be the best Meta Knight player in the entire SSBB universe.
Note: This guide is about how to play as Meta Knight on Wii with the controller below.

Moving
Like some other players, Meta Knight is a very small and fast character in SSBB. He also can fly for 5 clicks of the up arrow (once to get airborne, and four times to flap). He also has the ability to glide for 15 seconds. If you want to know some tips about moving around the screen, keep on reading.
Moving around the screen as Meta Knight is easy if you skip some of the more advanced moves, but once you get good at the basics, you will probably find it hard to start doing advanced gliding and dodging. Some of Meta Knight's attacks can also double as moves that can help you dodge and land a powerful hit at the same time, or just get across a gap.
So you should know how to move around. Just hold the Wii controller sideways with one hand on each side. Your middle finger on your left hand should be on the B button (the button on the back of the Wii controller). Put your left thumb on the D-pad (the little thing on the left side of the controller that looks like a +) and your right thumb on the 2 or 1 button (the two buttons on the side labeled 1 and 2). It is always helpful to have your right thumb on the 1 button when you are not attacking or doing anything with that side of the controller because then you can easily switch to the 2 button (to attack), the home button (the button with a house on it used to go to the Wii menu), the + button (the small circle button labeled + that can be used to pause the game) or the - button (the small circle button labeled - that can be used to grab enemies or throw an item away). Okay, let's go over the D-pad. D-pad is short for directional pad and is exactly what it's name states it is. It is a pad you can use to go a certain direction in the game. The two sides of the D-pad make you go to the side, the top of the D-pad makes you jump/fly, and the bottom of the D-pad makes you crouch.
Now I will teach you to use some of Meta Knight's attacks to get around the screen easily. The first one is side+1 (when I refer to direction+number I mean to press the D-pad to go that way and press the number key on your controller at the same time). Side+1 makes Meta Knight spin around violently in the direction you pressed. It can also launch other characters into the air if you get the distance right. If you make Meta Knight go up or down while he is doing this move you can change the angle.
Down+1 is a move frequently used for dodging. When you do it you will have a small amount of time being invisible. During this time you can move around the screen or fly, but you cannot do any attacks or glide while invisible. If you press 2 while you are invisible you can land a powerful hit after you turn visible and get KOs easily because it has good knockback and damage.
Finally, up+1 is an attack most commonly used just to start gliding, but it can also be used to attack people above you. Be careful, though. Once you stop gliding, you free fall and will not be able to fly until you land.
Be careful with all of these movements/attacks. After you do them, if you are in the air, you will be in free fall and not be able to fly until you land.
Attacking
Meta Knight's attacks are not the best attacks in the game, although many times he has been declared "Broken" or "Overpowered". They tend to do less damage, but line up opponents for further attacks.
The first attack I will be going over is neutral land. To do this attack you will just have to press the 2 button. Meta knight swings all around him, yelling "Hi-yah-yah-yah-yah!" This attack is one of his worst attacks, but if enemies are surrounding you, it is the second best attack to damage all of them decently (first is 1/Mach Tornado). I guess this attack could KO at 275 or more.
The second attack I will explain to you is side+2. When you do this attack, Meta Knight slashes twice in front of him, and one above. When a character is close to the edge, or you just want to knock them back and do some damage, this is the first attack you should do.
