A Good Wind: Ryu Guide - 風林火山

My name is Pokémonye West and I will be attempting to create an up-to-date guide on Ryu. There's an air of misinformation about Ryu and hopefully this guide will be able to enlighten some people. I'd like to give special thanks to everyone on the Ryu boards for compiling a lot of the information I've used in this guide. When talking about kill percents, know that rage nor move staling are being accounted for.

"He's been oft-compared to Little Mac and I myself find that insulting. No one's recovery ought to be compared to that."
I'm going to have to strongly disagree. Between lag and just good timing, his Side B will either go above the ledge for a free punish, or he will go below the ledge and right under the stage. His Shoryuken - similar to Samus and Little Mac - gives him no lateral movement upon the Up B being used. I would actually rank Ryu's recovery in the bottom 5 because his Tatsu is so janky, hard to control, and fairly easy to punish, while his Shoryuken, again, has no movement.

Granted, it's not that it isn't needed. Ryu has tons of powerful abilities in the neutral, not the least of which is FADC into command Shoryuken for a kill at 80%. His bad recovery simply compensates for his great neutral game.

Excellent work on the guide, I'm working on using these strategies and implementing them to my Ryu play as I'm typing this message.
