I use DrMario since i have to, +3/+3/+8 set with Smooth Lander, Crash Run and Beam Sword with 3223. Does anyone have any recommendations, because I swear I've gotten to at least 7 once.

The main thing to improve your scores is to leave a bunch of blocks piled up at the end of each Fever Rush, then break them at the end for a huge boost towards the next one. I did it with no customs in two tries once I figured that out; bairs, uairs and up-smashes are the best moves to use (nairs are pretty good as Mario, but worthless as Doc). Up-smash the gold blocks ASAP, in particular.

Be sure to destroy any golden blocks that pop up, as they build up the Fever Rush meter much faster. Just do not destroy them "during" the Fever Rush.

I find the main strategy is to high jump, then up-air blocks in chains. You can get at least 2 up-airs in one jump thanks to Dr. Mario's floatiness to help break more blocks. Especially during fever rushes. And obviously use side smash on any gold blocks to destroy them quickly.

It isn't nearly as hard as some of the other challenges. You'll get the hang of it.

I used a custom set with increased speed and a Star Rod equipped (basically whatever IGN recommended). That worked pretty well. As for how to play during the actual rush, I agree with the posts above for the most part.

I got it first try somehow, no equipment or custom moves. Just keep using uair and bair constantly.

Use tilts and aerials. Push exploding boxes away instead of wasting time destroying them. Try not to use many smashes. Save golden boxes and boxes from fever rushes for when you aren't in fever rush. It will take a few tries unless you're very good or very lucky. Patience and practice is important.

Attack buffs help a lot. You want to destroy the stone blocks in one or two bairs or uairs. Conserve golden boxes and during Fever, delay breaking the blocks when it goes down to the last third or a quarter so you can get a quick chain to fill up the bar after it runs out without breaking your combo.

Get exploding boxes out of there as soon as possible.
