Im going to suggest actually attending if you can. even if you dont enter the tournament, playing all the friendlies you can will make your skill increase 10x folds. After my first tournament, I was meh at wavedashes/Wavelands, then I got better after. After the second tournament, it was even better. Just saying, 10 hours of smash with better people = great, even if you get wrecked XD

I would also recommend learning to wavedash though. It's ultimately only going to happen after spending enough tedious hours by yourself on it, although coming out to a tournament is always a good thing.

Also, I wanna enter teams this time but I dunno if Supreme Dirt would end up carrying me and I'm not sure if the people I normally play with are going.

EDIT: the bigger problem is that I can only play marth :/

eternal, enter teams, go to the tournament and just enter with anyone. Also, I dont know how good Dirt is in Melee, but I know how good you are. odds are you wont be carried. (not insulting Dirt, just saying you're pretty legit).

wavedashing is overrated, just learn to do perfect nair shines on shield and you'll be fine.

Well, I DO play Young Link and Game and Watch. I'm not bad either, but I've got a lot of room for improvement.
