This is not a list of all of my threads I made, these are the Nintendo Characters I've chosen for SSBB.
Click here to watch a video of the characters on my list.
DeMille (a.k.a. Demiru) (Tomato Adventure)
Reason Why for SSBB: AlphaDream needs a REAL representative, and DeMille is the best choice besides Mario and Luigi. Also, this character has very unique moves, like his toy-like weapons called Gimmicks, and his Final Smash move: Pasaran's Song (if not, then the Tomato Robot MK.II). He was mentioned twice on Sakurai's poll with a lot of words about him. His personality is entertaining, and he also seems to be one of Nintendo's youngest protagonists. If Nintendo wants to make the Game Boy Advance, SP, and Micro sell better, they are going to have to import more Japanese GBA titles to other countries outside of Japan, like MOTHER 3 and Tomato Adventure. Tomato Adventure was created by some of the same people who created Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy Legend III, Mario & Luigi 1 and 2, some of the Hamtaro handheld games, and Koto Battle (Japan-Only). One of them is known as Chihiro Fujioka.
Stafy (Legend of Stafy franchise)
Reason Why: Stafy is very popular in Japan, making him very close to being in SSBB and/or making Nintendo release some Stafy titles outside of Japan. Also, I wish that annoying name controversy would end (e.g.: Stafi, Starfy, Starfi, etc.). Stafy's moves are kind of unique, but that doesn't mean he would be boring to play in SSBB. His Shooting Star move flies like M. Bison's (Vega in Japan) Psycho Crusher. Wario himself is in SSBB, and he also supported Stafy in Stafy 3. Stafy also made a cameo appearance in Super Princess Peach as an enemy called "Starfish". He isn't similar to Kirby, other than his look and voice. The Stafy series has its own manga and vocal versions of its main theme song. It even has many other kinds of things in Japan, like pencils, casino-style cards (not trading cards like Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokemon, and Magic: The Gathering), plush dolls, food, and even birthday balloons.
SNES Mac (SNES Super Punch-Out!!)
Reason Why: This is Nintendo's most recent playable boxer in Punch-Out!! history. Even though he still isn't more popular than the black-haired, he still has a chance at entering SSBB. Nintendo is now using modified versions of the characters' most recent looks, just like what they did to all of the returners (excluding Kirby) and the newcomers (except Solid Snake, because Konami decides on him). For example, Nintendo decided to modify Marth's look from the third Fire Emblem (second image), instead of his look from the first Fire Emblem (first image):
Image 1
Image 2
NES Mac was imitating Rocky, while SNES Mac wasn't imitating anyone. SNES Mac's moves could be similar to Marth's and Roy's, but it's actually gloves instead of swords. Nintendo brought back SNES Mac after EA asked Nintendo if they could add something from the Punch-Out!! franchise into one of their Fight Night boxing titles, and it happened, but EA did poorly on SNES Mac's 3D model design. Nintendo can do better than EA on that. If he doesn't enter at all, or if the black-haired does enter, then the diehard NES/Nintendo/Punch-Out!! fans will continue being too hesitant to believe the blonde-haired boxer is the remake of Little Mac (or just "Mac") himself. If Nintendo decides to add one of the other boxers instead of Little Mac, then perhaps Bald Bull will take the seat in the roster, because he appeared in every Punch-Out!! title, including the Arm-Wrestling spin-off as "Mask X", and except the arcade version of Super Punch-Out!!.
Takamaru (Mystery of Murasame Castle)
Reason Why: Takamaru is Nintendo's first samurai, and he came before Samurai Goroh (which Samurai Goroh is now an Assist Trophie). Takamaru has some pretty unique moves, like making himself invisible for a short time, and reflecting projectiles and objects thrown at him with his sword, but not electricity, magic, nor beam attacks. Mystery of Murasame Castle became one of Japan's most popular and nostalgic Famicom Disk titles, and was ported to GBA. He was also mentioned three times on Sakurai's poll. Perhaps Nintendo will add Mystery of Murasame Castle to the American, European, and perhaps the Australian Virtual Console lists.
Michael Jones (StarTropics and Zoda's Revenge ; not to be confused with the rapper)
Reason Why: If Sakurai wants to show more Japan-Only characters, and if they want to entertain America and Europe, they'll have to put Michael Jones in. He is the most popular Nintendo character from a title exclusive in America and Europe, and from another title only exclusive in America. He uses a lot of long-range weapons like bolas, Leonardo Da Vinci's katana, and the Psychic Shockwave ability, a bit more than short-range attacking by using a baseball bat and an island yo-yo. If you think he is like Ness, then I kind of disagree. Ness is more about psychic moves, while Mike is more about sporting goods and some objects you throw. StarTropics became one of America's and Europe's most nostalgic NES titles, and it was pretty successful enough to create a sequel (which failed and never was released in Europe). Michael Jones, the protagonist of StarTropics 1 and 2, was perhaps inspired by a baseball player of the Seattle Mariners, which Nintendo owns the baseball team. Nintendo might add StarTropics and Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II to the Japanese and perhaps the Australian Virtual Console lists.
Sablé and Richard (tag-team) (Kaeru No Tame Ni Kane Wa Naru (For the Frog the Bell Tolls))
Reason Why: They might (or might not) replace the Ice Climbers with these two fencers as another tag-team. They came from one of the best titles Yoshio Sakamoto ever created. They may look like chibi-Marth and chibi-Roy, but they can transform into a frog, so they can jump higher and attack faster (but weaker), and a snake, so they can bite and poison their opponents, but attack slower. Richard and some "For the Frog the Bell Tolls" stuff made cameo appearances in Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening/DX. Also, I saw a Princess Peach CD Music album exclusive to Club Nintendo in Japan. It had a slow-remixed version of the Japanese title's main theme song, which sounded almost exactly like this. There was also a Luigi CD Music album exclusive to Club Nintendo in Japan that included the original overworld theme. This duo would make a nice addition to an Event Match about sword fighters dueling each other.
Skapon (Joy Mech Fight)
Reason Why: Joy Mech Fight was the first 2D fighter by Nintendo, before the Super Smash Bros. titles were born. He is simple enough for Sakurai and his team developers to design. Just create some body parts that are pink and round, and VOILA! His moveset is simple and easy enough for beginners. Perhaps Nintendo will add Joy Mech Fight to the American, European, and perhaps the Austrailan Virtual Consoles. Also, he was mentioned twice on Sakurai's poll. To see him in action, click here.
Saki Amamiya (Sin and Punishment: Successor to the Earth)
Reason Why: Saki uses a unique firearm that is not realistic enough for ESRB to bring SSBB up to T (or perhaps M), because it's not only a gun, it's also a sabre. Unlike other Japan-Only Nintendo characters, Saki speaks English. Even though, we have ZS Samus, who is armed with a similar weapon, her weapon is more of a whip than a straight sabre. Also, Saki can turn some projectiles back to his opponents in a different way compared to other reflecting attacks. On October 1st, 2007, Sin and Punishment is now available for the Virtual Console worldwide, which probably increases his chance at entering SSBB at least as a regular trophy, a sticker, or an Assist Trophy.
Lip (Panel De Pon)
Reason Why: Panel De Pon came before Tetris Attack, those Pokemon Puzzle titles, Puzzle League for GBA, and Planet Puzzle League for Nintendo DS. Remember Lip's Stick? Lip uses that weapon, but this time it would be different compared to the item version, like dropping those blocks seen in Panel De Pon. She and her daughter, Furil, were mentioned on Sakurai's poll. Also, Sakurai and Nintendo/SSB fans want more female characters in SSBB. She wouldn't drop her Garbage Blocks on her opponents, because of this question: wouldn't you want Yoshi and some Pokemon to do that, after they appeared in their own versions of Panel de Pon? Right now, Lip's Stick returns as an item, but that probably doesn't mean she'll never enter, because there was a Screw Attack item and a Fire Flower item, which Samus and Mario already have them in their movesets.
Alice (Balloon Kid and Balloon Fight GB)
Reason Why: Like Lip, Sakurai needs more female characters. Also, Alice is more unique than those generic Balloon Fighters, because she has a more simple name and a personality. She is also the most recent Balloon Fighter, but not as popular nor well known as the generic Balloon Fighters. She can pump and detach her balloons to bounce on her opponents and fly back up to her balloons. Alice is also one of Nintendo's few young female characters. If Nintendo wants to revive the Balloon Fight series besides showing the original title in the WarioWare series and other similar things, then they'll have to bring back the style of Balloon Kid/Balloon Fight GB. According to Hitoshi Yamagami, both titles are remakes of the original Balloon Fight, and Balloon Fight GB became popular in Japan. Click here for his interview about it. If you want to translate it yourself, click here, and start your translation.
