Kill Percentages (Ness updated)

These percentages were tested in training mode from the centre of FD (where they respawn) on a level 9 mario. I will be updating each character gradually as it takes quite alot of time each. If you can see any problems with any of the data, such as a sweetspot which causes it to kill quicker please tell me. This will eventually be a list for the percentages that each character can kill with each move. I will try to put one character up at least once a week.

These percentages are BEFORE the move hits, recorded up to 999% and when finished will be displayed in the same order as the character select screen.

I searched but couldn't find anything on this forum, the only thing I could find is the project vertical, which only include moves which hit off the top, if you can find a thread which has all the information then feel free to link it.

I don't remember there being anything regarding a move list kill % to this extreme, only vertical. Looks like it could be somewhat mainly just to compare which attacks to use at which % intervals...remembering all the different %s would be a very hard and annoying task especially against other characters, it will help you think about when to use a certain move or switch to another.

Yeah, Vertical, and I saw this other thread where there were a ****-load of percent calculations done on a Falco, I had gotten confused. My bad.

I have 1 exam in May and alot in June so I may have to take a break around then (which is why I'm trying to get as much as I can done now, as well as for making this thread more useful). Instead of putting "Glide attack: N/A" for 90% of the roster, why not just not put it there? It's like putting "Dtaunt: N/A" for everyone but Luigi.

By going against a human (who you just leave so he does not DI) you can kill him with a fully charged forward smash from the centre of FD at 59%, maybe even lower put i only needed 1 approximate figure to show that it is highly likely due to DI. If it is not you still have to consider stale moves, position, character and DI so this information is best used for finding which moves are KO viable (some suprised me, with some wierd effects on some moves like luigis forward smash) where they will kill, and which moves are better used for keeping people off the edge rather than keeping them nearby etc.

Its also fun just to compare who strong their moves are.

Sonic Kill %'s

I had made a thread like this for Sonic, but it's more geared toward practical fighting (the weaker ones were done near the edge of FD...etc)

I was thinking of redoing it with Mario %'s since it seems to be what everyone else is doing >_>

might as well do it now.

I'm going to leave it stupid and just use "center of FD". Honestly, most of Sonic's moves are best used by the edge >_>
Also, anything higher than 300 is omitted.

AAA (all hits): 300%

F-smash: 117%
D-smash (first hit): 125%

U-smash (last hit): 167-175% (hard to measure because smaller hits add knockback, and the initial hit launches targets early)

F-tilt (2nd hit only): 215%
U-tilt (all 3 hits): 156%
D-tilt (inside): 292%

F-Throw: 295% (over top)
U-Throw: 189%
B-Throw: 220% (side)

D-air (sweetspot/beginning, vs grounded person): 198%
B-air: 134%
F-air (full combo>sweet spot(head)): 235%
U-air (both hits, from full hop height): 174%
N-air (sweetspot/beginning, vs grounded person): 192% (side)


Specials-
Homing Attack: 228% (side)

you sure utilt kills at 156? i mean i know it kills quite early, but that just seems a bit small

anyway looks like sonics is done... maybe i should do a lucario one lol :) might take a while for the multiple %'s. should get some very interesting results though, especially with aura spheres KO potential, which everyone severely underesitmates

thnx for the info tenki, I used it on the front page (there were a few differences but they are minor, I also filled in the gaps), I've been holding off the more complex ones such as lucario, ice climbers and marth for later, so I can get more done now, I'll try to get at least one new character up daily.

Wouldn't it be better to test the kill percentages on Bowser and Jigglypuff and average between them?

I did this with ZSS, only I did it against a human controlled Mario with zero input, because I wanted DI not to be a factor. If you'd like the data anyway, I'd be happy to re-post it here.

It'd also be nice to know whether you wrote down the percent before or after the hit connected. I wrote it down afterward because the game calculates knockback after it adjusts damage.

When obtaining the olimar information i found something odd. When using the forward throw (with the same pikmin) sometimes mario would fly faster and at a lower angle, im not sure if this is to do with DI but i think it may do, which is odd cause its never happened for any other throws.

If you read my post and the first post in the data itll show I know that, my problem was that using the same pikmin, it caused 2 effects from a grab, and I didnt know if it was a DI issue, looking at it, it appears to have been seeing as on a human opponent the same effect did not occur. either way, i considered the earliest kill, and they still arent low.

If you're really going to spend the time to put this together you need to do a more thorough job. For instance, you've neglected to include sweet and sourspot percentages. You've also left out secondary hits such as Mario's Dsmash when the opponent is behind him. Not to mention this doesn't include optimal DI which has a huge impact in actual play. I would be far more interested in seeing the percentages for DI up and down alongside regular kill percentage. Also, even level 9 comps don't make full use of airdodging. If you airdodge immediately after getting hit by kill moves, you can jump earlier which allows you to live at higher percentages. This is another factor that is ignored by this data.
