Dragoon, a Three Part Brawl Setup

<p align="center">Today’s update revealed a machine from the game Kirby’s Air Ride called the “Dragoon”.<!--more--></p>
<p align="center">The Dragoon is composed of three parts, the nose cone, the hull and the tail.</p>

<p align="center">All you need to do is aim, though Sakurai never mentioned if the aiming on it was easy or hard to control.</p>

<p align="center">If aimed right and you hit your target, you might as well kiss the target goodbye, because Sakurai says this is a 1-Hit KO.</p>

<p align="center">Getting those other pieces will definitely take some work, but the rewarsa I’m sure will be worth it.</p>

He said "Consider it a one hit KO". So that doesn't guarantee it. Compare Roy's fully charged Standard Special move (Flare Blade is it?). It's ALMOST an OHKO but not always!

I wonder how often the parts spawn. It would suck if they were "gone for good" if you get KO'd. Maybe "drop" means literally, similar to Coin Mode where KO'd characters drop some coins, that way the item isn't lost off the screen. Otherwise it would hardly be worth chasing all the pieces down. It almost seems like this would be a separate mode. I'm assuming the targetting will be by wii remote if it's available, or using the jostick as a cursor, like in the ending credits of SSBM, but judging from the difficulty in collecting all the pieces, I don't think it will be that hard to aim.

Good update but why did they take the week off again????? How hard is it to make a post of 1 smash topic a day, and why would you need a whole week to take a break from it????? I mean they get the weekends off sheesh. W/E i will deal with it... I just dont know how there ganna be able to reveal all the info about the game on the site b4 the game comes out? Or do they already have all the info on the site and are going to give it to us when japan gets the game hmmm?

This has restored my faith thaf are still going to be surprizes in the updates.

When I saw the name dragoon first thing I thought of was "Oh no not yu-gi-oh"

Could Dragoon split into 3 pieces in KAR, or is that a Brawl feature only?

I haven't played Kirby Air Ride but I think I've read enough about it to know that you need to win the pieces of Dragoon and then assemble them making the ultimate machine of the game.

I could be wrong.

Someone else confirmed it in another thread. Yes, it's in 3 parts.

You had to find the pieces in red boxes in the city mode, there was also another legendary air ride called hydra. dragoon was a great flying air ride, hydra was a great offencive air ride

Just another reason why I like ATs. They have interesting things inside.

Feh, a little update break (but at least it sounds like the filler will come to an end come next year).

But this Dragoon thing is awesome! Because it's so similar to my idea for Falco's Final Smash, where he hops into an Arwing, flies offscreen, and a targeting reticule appears and lets you fire lasers at everyone! WHOOOO!

Yes. Sakurai transfered the item over nicely. In kirby air ride you had to do the same thing. All three pieces of Dragoon had to be collected before you could ride the machine. It was usually a bloodthirsty battle to knock the Dragoon pieces out of your opponents, as they were pretty rare to find in boxes. Of course, the shooting feature was never in KAR, but I like Sakurai's originality in smash.(and it's his creation anway)

yeah, i have kirby air ride. very good game. there are actually two legendary machines. Dragoon and Hydra. in city trial mode you crack open the boxes to find the parts and combine them. Dragoon is one of the few machines that can actually Fly, not glide. i hope hydra is in too. use the power of the quick spin

The Dragoon thing is going to be interestng, but with that kind of power, i doubt the smash ball will spawn on the same match with the Dragoon. It would be too many uber items in one match.
The Dragoon is a cool concept though. It really suprised me. But no updates till January 7th

Seems to me like the Warp Star on steroids.

The idea of carrying items (or item pieces) around certainly opens up some new doors.

And I'm sure there's a time limit for aiming. Otherwise, I think I'd just hang around offscreen during a stock match and let my opponents dwindle eachother's lives down.

You know, the Dragoon is comparable to a free Final Smash for anyone. Awesome!

Wow this is a great update! This is gonna be one of the great items that I'm gonna love!

I love how this creates a game-within-a-game scenario, even more than the final smash. This game is shaping up to be just brilliant.

I remember once, i had Hydra and one of my friend had Dragoon. We had an awesome battle while the two other layers were cowardly hiding. I won. I had more offense.


Reminds me of good times. I'm sure most of you guys didn't know about this item, but my friends and I are happy it made it to Brawl, even if I didn't expect it.

great update he took it right out of kAR i like it alot very original, but i wonder if the parts spawn quickly, b/c if they don't people might not take the trouble for a kill or but...... oo and also if hydra is in the game and you get both that would be cool if it made the fusion of the two like the mission in KAR

but yeah u know what would be really funny is if you could turn 1 of the 3 parts off and your friend would be trying to collect them (cuz they didn't know) and while they are trying not to get hit and are loking for parts u just keep killing them

the design for this item seems remarkably similar to the power stones.Regardless, it's cool, but it's obviously banned in tournament play

Hopefully Sakurai realized just how unlikely it would be to get any three items in one match.

I hope that once one Dragoon part appears, the others have an increased spawn chance.

And how ironic, adding in an element from the game that supposedly made him quit Nintendo.

I'm actually happy about this item update. Kirby AirRide was a very underrated game, but me and my friends had tons of fun with it. I'm glad its finally getting some more recognition.

This is probably my favorite new item so far.

OMG this was the best update weve had in a while, well for me at least, i loved kirby air ride especially dragoon. The ebst part of the game was collecting the parts and now sakurai has put a twist on items in smash ^__^. This is going to be 1 of my favourite items *_*

I assume they will all spawn simultaneously, scattered around the level.
