Pokeball update: Familar faces

Sakurai began the first pokeball update with an explanation of the item and a showing of two pokemon from Melee. Since then we’ve been treated to some of the new monsters who will make a appearance in Brawl. If you’re like most other people you’ve wondered which pokemon will return. While todays update doesn’t tell us every returning pokemon we do get a glimpse at a few of them.

In Melee both Mew and Celebi were rare pokemon that netted the one who released them bonus points at the end of a match. In Brawl the two pokemon now give a different bonus. The screenshot shows Mew dropping a CD but Sakaurai says they will drop “some kind of present” so it’s possible they may also drop throphies or other collectables.

yay first...eva!!!! Anyway...its kinda lame that Saki is still showing known information...but confirmation is still a good thing and i really want this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im getting sick of these updates...sure there good. but its stuff we know. i am gratful for updates everyday, but just give us sumthing great every now and then..i rekon the fanbase has either killed themselfs or laughed at the ppl who sook

Its the delay... Everyone knows it, I mean seriously I kinda want Sakurai to say, "Yeah, check back once a week, there will be finally a worthwhile update then."

returning events, returning stages, and returning pokemon. Also returning items from some time ago. the way i look at it, this is good that he is doing this and you can look forward to no old updates in the near future.

Celebi and Mew

Celebi and Mew look so cute. I didnt know Mew was in Melee I never got him or I never played enough to the point where I did. But I like this update I love pokemon there I said it dawell.

What those who are seriously annoyed by updates like these should realize is that the more there are, the faster they will run out, leaving only good and new stuff.

They could have been really cruel and done updates involving the veteran Pokéball Pokémon individually. But luckily, they didn't.

So I just take comfort in knowing that previous stages, items, and Pokéballs have been done in quick updates, the majority of already known details are up, and we're still two months away. We've still got lots of time... that's our curse and blessing together in one.

I play melee alot and to this day i cant seem to release celebi, is it because i secretly hate the pokemon and because he has no real strength. I love updates but i am dissatisfied because they failed to graphically update the pokemon, but its not like they are bad graphics by any means.

This is ALMOST as exciting as finding out that snorlax was in melee. Seriously, who expected all of the pokemon from melee to just be dropped? Sorry, but in my opinion this update is VERY lame

As long as an update gives us NEW stuff or things that aren't confirmed yet, I'm cool with it. This update is one of them. But why did Meowth get it's own update? It's also a returning Pokemon. Uhm...the same goes for the Bumper...why, Sakurai?

Wow, those graphics are horrible compared to assist trophies. Exept for Ho-oh, they all look copy'd and pasted from Melee.

This is lame.
People whom say this helps get the junk out of the way do not realize that there is an endless pile of junk.
We all know that we can't be razzle dazzled every day [as the good is limited] but this is a long run of mediocrity, so not good.

To get celebi, you had to have unloicked almost everything, not just characters, but throphies, I needed to get 288 before celebi came to me.

This update was ok, it would have been nice to see an even bigger imporvment opn the graphically.

Does anyone think he'll be generous enough to give us "Returning Game Modes"? Or are we gonna get "Time", "Stock", "Coin"...

I honestly don't know anymore. It's nice to see that Mew actually does something now. I mean, sure, it was cool to see it and all, but considering how rare it is and that it did nothing always pissed me off.

Now I could be completely wrong but.. is the translator writing out the updates with his own sorta of personality to the things "translated"... or is that just sakurai.

@Lavamage: I have 280 Trophies in melee, and also the pokemon are from a gently updated pokemon stadium 2.

Scizor was one rough Poke Ball Pokemon back in Melee. I wouldn't be surprised if it shows up again to slash through your foes.

Anyway, it's good to hear that a decent amount of Melee's Pokemon are coming back. Some of them had effective attacks.

Come on another update begging whith returning!

I know we should be happy we get thi at all but returning Pokemon, returning Stages, return items! We haven't had a stage or character update since Norfair a month and a half ago and we already kew abot it from E for All!

Thet could at least confirm the Mario Kart stage

It would be sad if a legendary Pokemon came after months of work unlocking it... and then it just dropped the CD off the stage.

Not that it really matters but I was hoping Beedrill and Hitmonlee returned from the 64 days. I guess I was feeling a bit nostalgic, heh.

But this update isn't that amazing, since most of the time, I play with items off.
