Little Mac was the Star of the Punch Out series, a popular franchise on the NES. He was one of the popular suggestions as a playable character, but has been shown as an assit trophy instead.

Little Mac, as fits his name, is tather, well, little. This is due to having to make his oponents larger than him in the Punch Out games, so you could easily see your oponent instead of him being blocked from sight by Mac. Sakurai’s brought that aspect to Brawl as well.

What does he do, you ask? He dashes…

<img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/assist10_071018d-l.jpg" alt="Running!" />

…he jabs…..

<img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/assist10_071018e-l.jpg" alt="Quick jabs....to the FACE!....or the air below....whichever." />

…and finishes with an uppercut!

Ah. That's a pity. I was mildly interested in seeing him as a character. You know, basically representing a character that could actually exist in the real world. (No, I don't count Snake)

O_O;

He looks AWESOME! Now I feel ten times worse that he isn't a playable character. I mean, that model is fantastic! It's true to the NES roots, while still giving it a flashy update (like Pit). I mean, I already knew that he had been deconfirmed, but it's just so much sadder when he looks so impressive.

Little Mac looks GOOD! I agree with everyone here about him not being playable, although I cannot think of many things he'd do in terms of special attacks and FS... different variations of his special super-uppercut?

OT; get the tags in the first post fixed, Moreliator.

Wtf at the 'incorrect tags'. Do people not preview there messages before posting them now-a-days?

Little Mac was known to be a Assistant Tropyy but now we have physicial evidence to support it.

Pretty sweet. Though I don't remember him having green gloves in the beggining. Maybe based off the Arcade or Super Punch-Out Mac.

yeah I always liked him as a character and feel that I feel best with him being playable. However seeing this update I feel that this was th best role for him.

I have this theory that at least 1/2 the non 8 bit assists were once designed as possible character and then Sakurai decided some time in development that either they didn't work or that there were enough characters as playable as it is and made them ATs. Notice all the characters suspected as playable have appeared as high rendered ATs or Pokeball pokemon while other Ats and PPs don't seem as well rendered.

This is a theory but it might hold some ground. What do you guys think?

I guess that blonde boxer in Super Punch-out isn't Little Mac.

Punch-Out

I like Little Mac as an Assit Trophy because I really miss the punch-out series I will admit it would prolly be cooler seeing him as a playable character. I wish Nintendo would make a new punch-out game for Wii.

wow I am disappointed we got something we already knew..

I am glad he isn't a playable character. Now I just need Tingle, Balloon Fighter and Birdo to not be playable and there won't be any character I will refuse to play as.

Hitmonchan should really be a Pokéball now. I'd love to have them both come out at the same time. Boxer death everywhere. I would totally start singing "eye of the tiger" as I was pummeled into death.

I had high hopes for Little Mac being the boxing fan that I am, and it would've been cool to have seen someone fairly average in smash. Though even I'll admit he probably will fit fine there until they conceive a moveset for him for SSB4.
But this starting to be a bit of a letdown seeing some of my most wanted characters becoming assist trophies. First Lyn now Little Mac, who's next on the AT chopping block Sakurai, Jill from Drill Dozer? I hope not.

Could be a good idea for an event match. Only Little Mac ATs and Hitmonchan PBs pop out.

The thing with Little mac, is that he doesn't have reality defying wacky attacks like everyone else does. He doesnt do feats of incredible jumping, or superhuman speed, or shoots fire or electricity or anything.

Little mac is your everyday mortal human boxer. He doesnt even use any weapons, so making amoveset with that character concet isn't the same, as making one for captain falcon, who can envelop his fist in a flaming falcon and punch you with it.

I'm afraid there's very little that you can do with a realistic boxing moveset, it would have looked rather bland don't you think?

shame he wasn't playable. I can kinda understand why though, since you cant make a moveset out of a boxer. hopefully takamaru wont be AT'd though.

Psh. TJ Combo says hi.

This guy could easily have been a non-elemental clone of Captain Falcon (and replace kicking or humping with some sort of punch/flurry of punches in most cases), or had his own moveset, but whatever. He seems pretty cool, I'm glad he got into Brawl at all. Maybe next time, Little Mac.
