You heard it. Last week, Sakurai decided to give us a full rollercoaster ride… for two!

I will announce this right here, right now. In Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, you can also play with two players simultaneously!

Congratulations! It’s co-op play!

So, whether you’re siblings or close friends, two can play together.

Of the two, one will be the protagonist. Essentially, the camera follows the protagonist, so the other player has to keep up.

Yuss! Co-op confirmed!

Shown here is probably a side-scrolling stage, not an actual fighting stage. It looks awesome nevertheless, just look at that fabulous background!

Also shown here are a couple of enemies, supposedly called Primids. They’re just waiting to get owned!

Player 2 is kind of like another option.

Basically, it is the same as a standard Smash brawl, so if you take damage and get knocked off the screen, you lose a life.

However, this mode features a space jump that allows Player 2 to return to where Player 1 is even after getting left off the screen.

If Player 2 gets separated from Player 1 by the screen scroll, he or she will quickly space jump back to Player 1’s side. But, if Player 2 gets knocked off the screen by an enemy, that counts as a lost life.

Better watch out not to get too close to the edge when the enemies are lurking around. Though, if player 1 is the cause of you getting too far away from him, you will SPACE JUMP back to him. Awesome.

You just come back naturally.

The Space Jump in action. Mario certainly looks dubious.

The map of the Subspace Emmisary.

The protagonists form teams based on the developments in the story, and the characters they encounter join their team.

Your stock count, or the number of lives you can lose, is set for each stage.

In single-player mode, each time you lose a life, you switch to a different character on your team and are revived as that new character until you run out of stock lives. (You choose the character order for your team members at the start of each stage.)

In co-op mode, when either player 1 or player 2 loses a life, that player will be revived as another team member until your stock count runs out.

But, if Player 1 loses a life after the stock count has run out, that’s the end! Player 2 is participating simply as an optional player, so be careful.

By the way, you can also choose the difficulty level.

If you choose Easy, it will be quite easy indeed, so we definitely want people who aren’t very good at this type of game to give it a try! Even they will be able to make it to the ending.

But, if you choose a harder difficulty, your rewards will be greater. That’s another part of the fun.

Wow, even more challenge ^^ Intense sounds like insane AI.

And…

There’s a method for powering yourself up as needed to do battle with the Subspace Army—a method that has not been seen before.

I’ll explain this in great detail another time.

Interesting, don’t you say? Time to speculate?

Truly i cant wait to delve into the story, i really dont want to have to restart the game though to play it over. My freind is coming over Two days away from the release. So i cant decide if i want to waste my time if im going to restart.

But it will defintly be EPIC, but i just hope that all Charachters are unlockablr and playable thru this mode

I'm very glad the direction this new Adventure mode is taking. It's almost like a completely different game. I wonder how long Subspace Emissary will be? It can't be more than 10 hours.

w/e.....Multiplayer Adventure is going to be awsome.....2 player boss fights will be intense O_o

=P and the way player 2 teleports to player 1 when left off-screen reminds me so much of Kirby Superstar

I don't think it'll even get that far. Most likely it'll just be between 5 and 10 hours depending on the difficulty and will really just have replay value to carry it. Subspace is going to be significantly longer than the Adventure Mode for Melee, but that isn't saying much considering Melee's Adventure Mode isn't that long to begin with.

The Subspace Adventure can still be good while being relatively short. Heck, just 5 hours is all anyone can ask. Even full-on single-player games today can be that long; just look at Heavenly Sword for the PS3. However, I think it's best to look at it more like classic Nintendo games such as Zelda 3 and Super Metroid, where those games could be anywhere from 8 to 10 hours easy, but could also be "sped run" in less than 3 hours.

My hopes are that it is longer than anyone expects. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but when you consider all the other substance Brawl will include (trophies, stickers, CDs, the multiplayer/online modes, and even the Event Mode that still has yet to make an appearance), it's hard to ask for anything more than a single-player adventure which is merely longer and more fulfilling than the one in Melee.

Co-op seems pretty freakin cool. Its kinda like playing as Tails alongside Sonic in sonic games. I like the idea and HOLY ZOOTS the background and detail is amazing. Cannot wait

Just in case no one else noticed, the multiplayer co-op is nearly identical to the co-op in Kirby Superstar. Not surprising since its Sakurai's game as well, but thats probably the best way to move single player into multiplayer with the 1st player being more important and all. :p

I see Kirby King posted my blog entry ^^ Just to clear stuff up, I can't post stuff in here, so he has to do it for me. Hence the topic saying 'Kirby King' and 1st post Coen. I have no idea why the image- and italic tags etc. haven't changed to smashboards style (like instead of for italics). I'm currently asking for support.

And some stuff about Co-op: I definitely like this. Now I'll finally be able to play a co-operative mode with my bro instead of me fighting him all time.

In bragging land. HE'S IN!
at the end of the update, by power up(level up) i think he means 1 of 2 things.

1.you gain new abilities by completeing the levels

2. you level up by finding partners for your team.( i think i remembering sakurai say the level up system is diffrent than a normal level up system)
