    Q&A Mechanics & Techniques Discussion

SDI (apparently named hitstun shuffling in this game) is not remotely the same thing as vectoring. OP, read up on the topic a little before making a thread.

    How to deal with camper/staller

That's For Glory mode for you. Playing exclusively on flat stages invalidates a lot of characters who don't have projectiles, especially if you're playing against a campy opponent. I'm a DK main, a character with great punishes but weak approach options, and FD is the worst possible stage for him.

I might be misunderstanding you, but you don't even have to stop after the dash. You just run off the ledge, then roll the control stick down and back toward the ledge and you'll insta-grab. Took some time to do this reliably on the demo because the controls suck. Also, it sucks that you can...

I want to point out that ledge trumps don't have to be as telegraphed as some of the demonstrations have shown. You don't have to backroll to the ledge and then wait there to perform a runoff ledge grab -- you can do it from a dash. It's just that the 3ds controls make it a bit more difficult...

    Tournament Videos from Japan

Projectile camping in this game is ****ing obnoxious mostly because everyone's just playing on flat stages. Those Pac Man hydrants wouldn't be half as effective on Battlefield.

Please make the competitive Smash 3DS subforum easier to find.

Actually it IS harder to find than other subforums. For example, if you click the Smash 4 Characters page under the main Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U page, you're taken to a huge long list of character subforums for each character. Sure, there's stickies and topics for general character...

Please make the competitive Smash 3DS subforum easier to find.

That still doesn't excuse burying it in such a weird spot. I guarantee that tons of people who want to discuss the demo don't realize this subforum exists, as the people already commenting in this thread demonstrate.

Please make the competitive Smash 3DS subforum easier to find.

Yes! To me it makes zero sense for Smashboards, a site supposedly dedicated to competitive Smash discussion, to bury the competitive subforum in a place where most users won't even notice it. I was honestly baffled by the lack of competitive play discussion until I actively searched and noticed...

Please make the competitive Smash 3DS subforum easier to find.

So this subforum isn't exactly easy to find. I've been on Smashboards since 2006 and I generally know how the layout works, and it still took me a week to realize that it was sitting there at the top of the Smash 3DS General Discussion subforum. And if I didn't notice it, I guarantee that tons...

What about this. When a player grabs the edge, it seems that they can trigger a ledge attack or roll-onto-stage almost immediately. If you try to trump them, you'll grab the ledge and get stuck there for a second, while they roll onto the stage instead of being trumped. Is it possible to follow...

What if your opponent simply jumps or upB's again after being trumped, intead of airdodging? Are you saying you think it's possible to follow up after a trump quickly enough to intercept that sort of maneuver, generally speaking?

That's great, if true. Can someone else with the game test this out for confirmation?

I actually appreciate the input, Thinkaman, but would you mind contributing some actual information on how this is actually viable in competitive play? After all, nobody is saying that it's impossible to hit your opponent after trumping them -- we're just wondering if it's impossible to follow...

Yep, NondairyDanzig is the one in this thread who gets it. You can't just ledgehop fair to punish a ledge roll because you are glued to the ledge during your invincibility frames. My guess is that Sakurai implemented ledge trumping to make recovery easier so that the game is less punishing for...
