I agree that stupidity is acceptable as long as it doesn't deter or harm others, it is for that effect that we have laws to mitigate this. It's just in the nature of stupid people to deter or harm others, particularly if they think they are doing something smartly (I suppose that is a pretty good argument against giving people power in the government, eh?) That's perhaps even an argument for anarchism, though I don't think that avoids the power dilemma, people would still be trying to ration the anarchy into a model of influence to get **** done.
Basically I don't know what would be best. I suppose it doesn't lie in a large government, though a small government will probably grow into one until we cut it back down, and so on infinity. o_o
The terms conservative and liberal and fiscal are so equivocal to me that I try not to label things. And funny, to me "conservative" sounds like a dirty thing to me in America. It's usually defined in a sense of being "prudent" with every action, another dirty word to me, filthy. Or perhaps to "conserve", conserve traditions, another sick nasty word for me. I must be *** backwards compared to most Americans though.
Used to think the government controlling was the best idea because if you gave people the option to be stupid chances are they will be stupid, but as of late that belief is waning.
