Brawl will have backwards progression (which is a bad thing)

This topic has been worn to the bone. At this point, everyone has made up their mind on Brawl and won't budge from their respective positions. Gimpy just MADE a thread on Sakurai's views on competition, and now this thread. They lead to the same discussion that's been brought up in several...

    Approaching Olimar

It helps to be aware of what Pikmin is currently in line. If they aren't aware of it (which can happen when things get heated), Olimar's range can be reduced significantly if he tries to Smash or Grab with a purple. Dsmash seems to be less affected by this, however. It's quite noticeable with...

    K.O moves ?

Blue Forward Throw seems just as capable of killing as back. Uair can kill at decent percents with a color. Yellow, I think? Might be wrong on this.

White Pikmin Farming (100%) and Purple Pikmin Farming

This isn't as fast as you think. Nor that effective. Pikmin do not die until they fall off the stage. So, there's still a delay while plucking and it'll take a significant amount of time in a game to get six. Time your opponent will not give you. Secondly, having a lot of white Pikmin is...

AIM Chat about Smashball. *WARNING WALL O' TEXT*

The POINT of a Final Smash is to get KO(s) easily. Skill comes in the actual getting of the Smash Ball (and some characters do require a brain to use their FS). It's not like a Hammer or easily grabbed item. So I agree with him there. But Smash Balls, even on Low, appear way too often and...

Lvl 9 CPU doing dirty tricks...

The AI does not play well with spikes (regardless of level), which makes it harder to test custom stages. They try to save their second jump and DI out of them, which doesn't always work and leaves them vulnerable.

What's the Point of White Pikmin?

Whites are good for grabbing because they do the most damage a hit when holding the target, and the lack of knockback means you can set up combos right after the throw. As said before, good when you can't get a kill yet.

    R.O.B. vs. Olimar

Going off the stage is taking a risk with the Pikmin. A big one. Still, sounds like R.O.B. is more for you.

    Check out the hate mail.

This article tries to come off as intelligent, but flounders in every possible way. 1. Longer button presses do not mean you suddenly have no lag on attacks. It's not like Ryu is shooting his fireball as you input the proper key combination. You still have to wait for the attack to finish...

No Vs Data? And no one is upset?

It's in the options Menu. There's data on overall stuff like total KOs, damage, etc. and character rankings (most distance walked, most drownings). Character rankings also includes specific Name statistics as well. Sadly, you do not carry your stats with your profile when you put it on a...

    Official Stage Legality Discussion

A smart player will take out a player trying to do some of the microgames. Playing with friends, I got killed by being stupid and doing the "Don't Move!" game. Nonetheless, the invincibility prize is ridiculous and the stage is an obvious ban.

NC-Echo's Olimar guide *New videos added

I believe it's the part of the animation where Olimar is lifting his head back. But that was a while ago and there might be more precise timing on it now.

CPUs and Humans, the Difference to an Olimar

A computer does not realize that Olimar's Up B is rendered useless against an edgehog. This is a major weakness of Olimar, and once a person realizes it they WILL do it. Practice your whistles and throwing Purple Pikmin. Also, Up B gives a tiny jump, which can make a difference between...

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

Alright, I understand. I was never a competitive Melee player, so that's about all I have left to say on this.

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

You make good points. Heck, all these threads do. But what is your aim? To encourage players to stick with Melee? These threads tend to go downhill and provoke hostility from both sides. You claim to not be trying to persuade us to stop playing Brawl, so I'm lost as to what your goal with...
