My general strategy is to crowd Samus with a really aggro Falcon so those projectiles can't destroy me.

Falcon feels like a perfect accident. The stomps and knees are the reasons I've been playing him. I think he's fine the way he is.

Mystic hit the nail on the head. You don't want to do the same get up everytime, you'll get read into the clearance section at Barnes & Noble. I usually start with the get up attack and start variating from there. Best of luck!
