Haven't posted on Smash Boards in a while.. here I go: I like the echo character distinction a lot, but it gets muddy real fast if you consider other existing characters that are similar to others but not considered an echo character. In my mind, any character that could be considered close...

'Cutting content' implies something was developed but scratched. Outside Ice Climbers, I'm not so sure there was that much content actually developed that didn't get in solely because of the 3DS outside the specific stuff that has been mentioned. I'm sure the WiiU version could've been bigger...

I don't know if he's bigger then Banjo and Rayman combined (I'd actually put them at the same level of iconography), but he certainly is known. If nothing else, he's the face of 90's Playstation. Unless you count, like, a Tekken fighting person or John Madden.. or Snake. :P

I'd agree! Still, disregarding how saught after Banjo & Kazooie are, the Battletoads are almost equal as iconic. I think they're cool :P

I actually had a weird thought of mine. Let's say a third-party character that is currently owned by Microsoft gets into Smash 4 outside the realm of the 'ballot'. I think both Steve? and Banjo-Kazooie have good chances in this scenario.. but there's one more character I could see getting in.
