The sad thing is that pretty much all of his issues could be patched up fairly well if his inhale were actually made good. A way to avoid getting outcamped, a way to mixup much more easily and a way to attack on shield would make him the defensive zoner he was supposed to be.

This is something I've always tried to figure out, and I think the character that handles Dedede's worse matchups best is Pikachu. Cloud, ZSS and Sonic all have bad matchups with him and Pika stomps a lot of low and midtiers that give Dedede trouble. The other obvious answer is Sheik lmao.

Dedede I think is bottom 5 when it comes to matchup spread, but a lot of those bad matchups are against low and mid tiers. The thing about Bayo is that she doesn't have any way to force Dedede to approach. His shield and multiple jumps and gordos are enough that she can't just shoot at us until we reach her. Also, the way her hitboxes work mean that she has no safe way of repeatedly knocking back gordos at us...
