That's the thing, from what I can see so far, the standard follow-up gives more options and is easier to execute. I guess that more research needs to be done about this, but from what I can see, the standard grab follow-up is indeed more profitable.

Damage and knockback-wise, Ness' bthrow indeed trumps all other throws. Another powerful one I can think of is ROB's upthrow. There are also some good throws that have great combo potential, like D3's downthrow and Sheik's fthrow/dthrow, which for me are far more interesting IMO.
