Not saying it will, just wondering what you guys will do if it does...

What will you do?

Keep playing it?

Go back to melee?

Go back to PM?

Quit?

or

Still play it with flaws

---

Thoughts?

I'll play the game. I've never gone back a Smash Bros. game as my main game (64 to Melee to Brawl to Project M) and don't plan on doing it now. I don't really care about the competitive scene.

I'll still play it even if it has flaws. The main thing that matters to me is if its fun or not. Being competitively viable is just something extra.

Uh, keep playing it I guess? I don't think both versions will fail competitively.
Since the developers are "balancing" the two games, that balance should turn out to be good this time.

I'll just keep playing it. I just don't really do much competitive battling. I follow the rules, but I just don't do it that much.

And it's gonna be inevitable that someone will figure out how to hack a Wii U and make a Project M. It might take a long time, but it'll be inevitable.

EDIT: And of course, this is Namco we're talking about. Their track record with fighting games have been mostly good (of course, what do I know? Of the Namco fighters, I only played Soul Calibur IV)

Well, I'm confident it isn't going to, so I'm not even thinking about such a scenario.
...

The point of the thread is to assume the unassumed.

(Also people the last vote means you WILL still play in tournaments, if you are a casual, pick the first vote)

The pm devs said they weren't doing another one, so the chances of that are slim to none

I'm basically going to be online-only as far as competitive play goes, and I don't really have a gaming PC to play anything else via emulator, so I don't really have any other options other than casual local play.

Play it.
Because, people will still play it, it's a smash game. (Unless you're a super hardcore tourney***
So, that will be all.

I'm a semi-casual, but a party game shouldn't be judged by it's competitive viability.

Understandable. And who knows, maybe the game will be just competitive enough to not have people do that. As I said before, Namdai (my nickname for Namco Bandai) has quite a good track record for their fighters for the most part (again, this is speaking for the fact that I only played SCIV, so I'm not sure)

To me, that should just say keep playing it. Because, people will still play it, it's a smash game. (Unless you're a super hardcore tourneyfag)
So, that will be all.
Yeah, how did you think using that was a good idea?

I understand. I'm just saying I'm not going to. Besides, there was a thread very similar to this one, and I already gave my opinion.

I answered from a competitive standpoint. Regardless of competitive value, all the Smash games are incredibly fun to play as is, and so I'll keep with it because I love it. If it's not to my liking competitively I'll keep playing PM and light Melee, which I planned to anyway haha

Go back to melee for a bit as I do still want to beat my friends and get better. Then eventually quit smash alltogether.

It clearly won't be the game for me anymore. Maybe I'll get into other fighting games, buy a legit fightstick and try to get better at that. There are plenty of options obviously, just gotta figure out which ones I like best. Sort of like how paper mario is no longer a game for me ): Thanks Super Paper mario disappointment and then sticker star.

From what it looks like, if it plays exactly like it does in the demo it won't be a bad competitive game in my eyes unless something ends up being broken. In which case I'll try to adjust the rules until it's nullified as much as possible.

Edit: Or play Project M because the character movesets are way cool in that game. DK can roll off ledges woot woot

Keep playing, going back is for the crybabies.

Also, this poll is definitely lacking options and biased.

Keep playing. No reason to stop if its fun. Sad Brawl's not an option, though.

I'm optionally more effort depending on mood casual but not competitive pro level yet casual. (Cause playing the game in anyway is fun.)

So even if this game.... "play's too defensively" or "feels too much like brawl" I should at least get a year or a half of pure enjoyment out of it then become on-and-off with it like I did brawl.

I'm not a fan of the first option. You can still play the game with out being a casual.

I'll play it, and I'll love it. One of my favorite developers is working on one of my favorite franchises which has my favorite characters and my favorite way to play it (GC control) is supported.

There won't be tripping, there is primordial tech being felt out, and the roster(for me) is the strongest one yet if you can forgive the Fire Emblem straddling. I'll have fun with it, we all will. I guess the real question is whether it can retain a big enough scene to keep it around. Even a fraction of Melee's longevity would be fantastic, but that's really gonna be up to the final product.

It's not biased, stop assuming that. Ugh :|

However, i'll admit there was a few options I missed like "Play both Project M and Smash 4" and "Play it sometimes, but play others sometimes too" and stuff like that.

I picked quit Smash entirely because y'know what

But in all honesty I'd just play it casually. It's still gonna be fun.

5 stock all items high frequency :troll:

I won't care because I'm a filthy casual.

In all honesty my biggest worry was for the heavyweights. And it seems to have been addressed.

Keep playing it because it'll probably be a fun game regardless.

I play Super Smash Bros. with my friends, and by myself. I play competitively (with friends) and casually (with friends/alone). I don't go to tournaments.

So if SSB4 fails competitively, I will just continue what I am doing, and continue to play. It doesn't have to be a 'casual' thing. Nor does it have to be 'competitive' when you play. It's not like there isn't an inbetween.

All that matters to me is having fun, and having fun doesn't mean I have to be shuffled into "competitive" or "casual", seeing as that's the ultimate goal of both sides.
