Zard's jab is frame 4 and has decent range, you really want to be careful not to get hit by it.
Zard's jab 2 can set up into u-smash, grab or fly, so if zard is jabbing you mash jump and di away.
Flamethrower outranges everything Marth has and its usually safish on shield. It is NOT safe on whiff so take advange of that.
Remember Zard's u-tilt, uair, u-smash, bair, f-tilt and d-smash are extremely disjointed and can beat some of your moves. Also Fsmash makes zard invulnerable for a couple of frames.
Zard has a huge grab range, but his dash grab is kinda sucky.
If zard d-throws you, try to mix up your di. if you di away you can get hit by fair but if you di towards him he can hit you with nair or uair.
At low percents zards b-throw can combo into fair, you might want to di away in order to avoid the damage.
Zards U-throw kills pretty early, especially on platforms. You want to di it away and down.
Marth counter invalidates flare blitz, Zard will have a hard time recovering in this matchup. Be careful when challenging fly tho.
Zards aerials have massive landing lag so abuse that. Nair and fair autocancel from a short hop and retreating fair is safe on shield.
Zard has an amazing SHAD, his rolls are awfull tho.
Despite being the fouth heaviest character, Zard dies realatively early to vertical knockback so u-throw is your friend.
Look out for rock throw, zard can jump cancel it to slide a small distance while doing it and can shield poke. Its really punishable tho.
Zard likes stages with platforms so you might want to avoid taking him to dreamland or batllefield.
