I'm looking for a video of Link vs. Samus. Link as Fierce Deity and I think Samus was Dark Samus. I can't find it and I don't remember where I saw it. The video was from a tournament I think something about Jack was the name of the Tourney. I searched in YouTube and here for a while, but I guess I don't lose anything with asking.
Did you see it here though? Because cant's remember watching that vid you say.

I believe I've found what you're looking for. You were referring to a match between Jester and Echo, correct? I didn't find the match on youtube, but it is on twitch.

The match starts at the 5 hour 14 min. mark.

Won't be making those mistakes again anytime soon tho lol
Aw, man, that Fsmash kill in the third match was great. It was very risky with that PK Fire out, but MAN!

...Too bad about that second match, though. :( That PK missile.

This is my second time ever being on stream so I tried to look decent at least

Your quick shorthopping, jabs, and aerials are looking really good, man. I'd cut back on some of your move telegraphing, though; there were a few times I saw a Smash be charged for longer than it probably should have, and the Spin Attack was becoming a bit predictable in the first match, but it looks like you recognized that quickly. Jabbing to Spin Attack is a very good practice to do, though, so keep that up!

@ MagmarFire MagmarFire That match against Shulk was really good! I liked how you were able to space with zair *which I need to remember to start doing* and covering his landing with Usmash

Okay Guys, I'm trying to learn how to play Link. I've played him a bit on previous Smash games, but has never mained him. Here are two matched I recorded yesterday. I'd like some critiques and tips. I know i need to used the Zair a lot more, also Nair. I don't use much grabs, which I should. But any more tips, comments would be great.
Also, I tend to use Up Special a lot. It seems a great punisher for rolling. But I haven't seen anybody use it as much as I do, so I'm guessing at high levels, it isn't recommended?

I think you need to jump more in general. You stay very grounded, rarely jumping and never short hopping. Nair has great priority and the hitbox stays out very long, so it's effective against a Jigglypuff approaching through the air (I think you'll trade hits with pound).

don't use much grabs, which I should.
Using grabs sparingly is a necessity as Link, as his grab is very punishable. What you can do, however, is chase a back roll. You played a very predictable roller in Jigglypuff; those sorts of people tend to roll away after they've used a punishable move. Just chase them with a grab -- our range is huge, so the spacing is easy.

Well, you used it 5 times in the first match, and it only hit the last time. It earned you the final kill, sure; but you also got punished for using it numerous times. It can be useful out of shield: it's great for punishing ledge get-up attacks, as it launches the opponent at a great trajectory setting them up for gimping.

A few additional remarks:
  • If the first hit of Fsmash lands on shield, don't use the second one: it is extremely punishable.
  • You only use grounded arrows: don't forget you can jump and shoot an arrow too -- you can control the trajectory with it.
  • You tend to jump into people after you've been launched, generally with a Dair -- that is very dangerous, as they can hit you with a smash attack or shield it and punish: consider simply jumping away and drawing a bomb when they're waiting for you to jump back.
  • When you are on the ledge and have a bomb in your hand that is about to explode, using a get-up attack/normal getup or, best of all, a get up roll, will earn you a few frames of invincibility, so that you won't get hit by the bomb but the opponent will: that makes getting up from the ledge very safe (you lost the second match because you jumped with a bomb that was about to explode).
  • Don't waste your midair jump while recovering, so use only Up B when possible: once your jump is gone, Link can easily be gimped.
  • Don't get greedy when you're looking for the kill: throwing out Dash attacks and Fsmashes (both ridiculously punishable) will easily cause you to lose your last stock, especially against a character like DK, who can kill easily with a well-timed attack
My general advice for you is to mix up your game, especially your long range game, with more jumping and less rolling. Only throwing grounded boomerangs and bombs, and shooting grounded arrows, will make it easy for the opponent to approach you in the air. Watch how Kirin utilizes short hops and full hops while pressuring with his projectiles, and while pressuring up close with aerials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAGBn57C2NM

Thanks mate. I took notes of your tips and have been trying them out on CPUs. Then I tried them out on For Glory and things seem to be working out pretty good. Some of the things are pretty hard. Using B-Air as become an addiction, but I'm taking other options instead. The grabs are a bit tricky too, but I'm kind of getting the hand of it. For now, I can't really say I'm that good, but your tips really helped me out. Once I get better at it, I'll upload another video hoping a critique from you. Again, thank you.

Good stuff BrimeZ. I enjoy watching your matches and seeing how you approach your opponent. I've seen that you have a really offensive approach. Whenever I see you do SHFF Nairs, I'm always thinking your going to get punished on shield, but somehow manage to get out of the situation unscathed. Lol, you're fearless man. You're use of the Bair is nice too, I need to incorporate it more in my play. I also know what you mean by getting "trigger happy;" I try to pull out my boomerang or bomb at bad moments that leave me open.

My match vs Pink Fresh two weeks back. I could have won, I just got trigger happy lol Enjoy

Good matches man. However, I've like to point out two areas in which you can still improve to become even better. One is that you roll too much, specially roll over your opponent. Pink noticed that and started punishing you in the first and second matches and that costed you a stock. The second is that your recovery is too predictable and that costed you the second match. You always jump as soon as possible and pullout a bomb, then just fall towards the stage. Try saving your second jump and not taking the bomb but using the gale or an aerial to cover your return. You should also include tether recovery occasionally just to mix things up.

Glad you guys enjoyed the matches and I appreciate the advice. I will definitely work on saving my jump, I never think about it honestly. Its something I never got used to relying on since links recovery was so bad in previous games

What I meant by being trigger happy is that out of all tournament players I know, I play for fun and aggressive the most even in high stake matches and sometimes I pay for it even against people I'm clearly better than.

I play that way especially on stream bcuz I'm the most watched link in smash 4 right now and I want link players to feel confident with playing with link at high levels while playing aggressively and flashy. Link has a strong defensive game will become stronger when custom moves become the the norm. But I don't want campy and defensive links to become the common especially when people start to realize how good link is

I would like for you guys to check out my Link, I have a match-up against Captain Falcon and Little Mac. I really think I am starting to get use to pressuring a bit, but my gimping still needs work sadly.

StaticManny just handling this poor Robin. Really digging his close ranged, aggressive style. Instead of just long-mid range projectile spam, he uses his projectiles as a means to approach and then really apply the damage with the Master Sword. Coulda used more bombs, but that's just my opinion.

Had a match with Jerm on his stream.

Soft throwing is pretty neat, i'd like to see more Links making use of it.
Some critique would be great, please mind that some of the technical errors (Like dash throwing bombs, instead of pivot throwing them) happened mainly due to me being nervous and a little bit of input delay.

Solid Link! The bomb spike in the third match was extremely well placed. I need to learn to consistently soft throw bombs near the edge. You seem to have it down nicely.

I'd like some critique and tips for my Link, sorry for the poor quality.
I like your link. You made good usage of zair, it's pretty important in this matchup.
The main reason for you losing was probably you not respecting Rosalina's coverage options; you got punished by luma quite a lot. Also, challenging Rosalina's up air is not a good idea, airdodging should be your main method of avoiding juggles. (@1:43) You also missed some opportunities to get rid of luma (@2:01), ftilt and up b have enough knockback to send luma offstage in most situations.
The Rosalina mu is all about patience and spacing, it takes some practice but overall i'd say that it's pretty even.

I went today to my first tournament (WiiU) in a while and got some unfortunate brackets, I still need to improve but felt that could've done better. Won my first set vrs a Dark Pit, then lost to the guy who won the whole thing (Mario) and again to the guy who got 3rd (Yoshi). I'll see if i can get the replays.

EDIT: Also, if you have some critique/pointers feel free to give 'em.

I've been playing a little bit of Link lately, not sure I'm using him right, but I've been playing him nonetheless. Could anyone record my replays for me? cause I can't record since my laptop is currently getting repairs

Can't record replays because there's currently no way of sharing them. The system's being worked on that will allow us to share replays with friends but untill then there's nothing we can do.

No, not yet. There is currently now way to upload or share replays in Smash 4.

There are people here who can record matches for everyone, but we can't - as of now. If anybody wants to upload matches for critique, feel free to simply hold a cheap camera in front of your screen: as long as we can see it, we can critique it, after all.

A new experience between these two.
The spacing.

I just discovered something while messing around with CPUs, on my 3DS like a little while ago. So, I was just messing around with CPUs on my 3DS. And I was on Battlefield, so what happened next was, I pulled out a bomb and threw on top of a platform and the bomb didn’t explode it just sat there. As, I did the bomb throw onto the platform the bomb landed as the Z-Air drop, I tried a F-Air and grab the bomb and threw to the CPU.

I don't know if anyone discovered this yet, but so tell me.

Soft Throw onto Platform
Info: Soft Throwing onto a platform without exploding the bomb.
How to Perform: Pull out a bomb and run to the platform you wanna throw it onto. Than (SH), and throw the bomb. If the bomb doesn't land on to the platform or you over throw it, Link's hand need to big higher than the platform for the bomb to land safety.
Notes: I use this tech, and I can N-Air or a F-Air to grab the bomb and throw into the opponent.

I can probably record the replay, I discovered this.
