Uncomfortable triggers (classic white GC controller)

Hey,

So I've been playing for some month now with the new official white gamecube controller and I'm really finding the trigger buttons to be really stiff, uncomfortable and loud. It almost feels like they get stuck everytime I press them in and I get distracted by the loudness of the clicks.

Did I just forget how the old gamecube controllers were, or are these new ones different? I've considered ordering an older version of the controller but it's just wasted money incase they are all the same.

I also bought the original white controller and I'm having the same issue. I always go into practice my technical stuff and the triggers always annoy me. I don't know if it's an issue of breaking it in, or if it is the controller. I'm hoping it will just ease out after some use.

The 3m cord white controllers lack metal bars in the analog slider elements older versions had. You can take them out of an old controller and put them in your white controller.

That's good to know, thanks.

I don't currently own an old controller though, I guess I have to go buy one of those and try it out.

Are the White controllers that much worse than the old school controllers? Would it be worth buying an old controller off eBay if I already have a white one?

To be honest, most of the smashers I know irl prefer the white controllers over older models. I’d still recommend getting a second controller so that you have a backup in case your main controller has a defect or gets lost.
