Tourney Problems

Everytime I try to set up a tourney the game will always crash mid-setup, the screen freezes and makes an annoying sound and only way to reset is holding the power button on the wii until it shuts off. Other than that the gameplay looks clean in vs mode and classic. Is anyone having the same problem or know of a solution to fix this?

It's probably because of having clones now and them not having a slot to choose when setting up tourney mode.
