The Project M scene in Central Ohio is an awesome scene and we feel that we can be competitive in the stronger areas, such as Texas, East Coast etc. It is our goal to try and make a ranking system that accurately ranks the players within the Central Ohio region. We do hope this can encourage other areas for an Overall Ohio Power Ranking for Project M, but for now, this would give a great start to help rank the players in our rapidly growing smash scene. The public is welcome to join in the discussion and leave their thoughts about the season, helping us create the best ranking system possible!

Mission Statement:
To rank people within the Central, OH Area and to create an accurate list that shows the growth of our scene within the rankings period. This is used to have our players get better and achieve a higher ranking. We as panelists want to inspire improvement, promote competition, and create a better Smash Scene.

Scoring Criteria:
• Everyone at the beginning of each season everyone starts at even ELO
• Every match that meets the Ranking Criteria will get recorded
• There is a decay system. Decay is where if you don't enter matches, your points will go down weekly by fixed amount. Every 3 weeks of inactivity will result in decay

Ranking Criteria:
• Wins and losses in tournament bracket
• Wins and losses in pools sets only if it involves eliminating players OR in Pools Format
• Money Matches of $5 dollars or more
• For Out of State Tournaments, when Columbus vs Columbus faces off or eligible player faces off, it will become eligible for the PR
If the tournament listed does NOT meet the initial Qualification of the list above, Only results for money placements qualify (I.e. Winner's Finals, Loser's finals, Grand finals) of $5 or more

Ranking Eligibility:
• Minimum of 8 recorded matches (Tournament matches, Elimination pools, Money Matches)
• Would have to enter a minimum of 2 tournaments in Columbus or in other areas approved by the Panel Members

Tournament Eligibility:
• Tournament must have at least 8 entrants

Shuffle V was a pretty huge tourney with a lot of potential revealed the many that showed up for it.

Can't we at least count that into this? We could extend backwards to this past Winter, and then have a normal season from that point on after this one's done come July, just so we have more time to situate players after Shuffle had an incredible turnout of an attendance compared to most tourneys after it and possibly some of the ones coming up.

It would also help for players in & out of state to see what they need to overcome against our PR players if a tourney like Shuffle is taken into account. If we can't count the whole Winter season, then AT LEAST count a major huge tourney like Shuffle, since almost everyone in C-Bus was there.

not rly, i just wanna be good at this game like i am at melee and i want some mms to motivate me to actually try. also this PR is probably going to end up being dumb since a bunch of local melee players will most likely end up being able to beat whatever noob brawl/pm players end up on this list but most likely wont end up on the PR since it consists of data from pm exclusive tourneys that melee players wouldnt likely travel to.

There are brawl players that have been playing PM that are doing much better than the melee players (or Hanky) in Columbus (Carls, JT, Sammy, etc.). Fizzle was Brawl, but switched to Melee, and now plays all 3 smash games, so we'll just put him under the class of a freak of nature. For Melee, there's Hanky, you, and who? I guess Paradigm and Drephen? I have not seen them play the game all that much. In Michigan, Brawl players are better than their Melee brethren.

Anyway, This is a Power Ranking for Project M, not Project M side event Power Ranking. I can tell you if OSU Melee were to host a tourney that had Melee and Project M, I'm not gonna be like "There's no brawl, why would I go to this tourney?" You better believe that I'm gonna try to get 1st place, then get disappointed when I lose to Hanky and/or Fizzle. If you really want to get better at this game, go to tournaments, MM people, actually take the game serious and don't treat it as a side event.

Project Melee is growing in Columbus (and Ohio actually) at a quick rate and the PR will encourage those to get better.

How many tournaments have been PM exclusive? There's like the cinci one Dr. X hosted, and one reflex hosted like way back when, pretty sure almost every event that PM is included also has another smash game.

Anybody coming to that Peppy's tournament next weekend? Gonna try and convince people to go, also Cinci PM > Columbus PM Get@me.

Not a bad mentality. Yeah, I'm just messing with you. I am actually probably the best PM player in Ohio that I've run into so far though and have been able to beat the "melee crossover kids" except for Chu. I was tempted to see if I could get you up to $200 for a MM but I woke up today and thought that sounded like a lot of effort; I've never really played much to begin with and am just kinda wasting time until Smash 4. I would really love to have someone nearby be able to consistently beat me in PM but so far the only fun matches I've had where I felt like I needed to improve a bit to win were Chu Dat and Oro. Everyone else was either "Oh, I learned the matchup now" or me just trouncing them. I played Bowser for pete's sake, no one should lose to Bowser.

Do you still play Jiggs / Fox in PM? If you're looking for a new character I'd suggest looking into Diddy. Jiggs is fairly mediocre in PM just because of the sheer amount of effort you'd have to put in to learn every matchup. Bowser is low tier by a wide margin but has a OHKO on Jiggs if you mess up once and once you learn that you have to deal with the fact that bowser can dash attack any aerial from only one jump and superarmor it to trade. Stupid stuff like that you have to learn about every matchup makes Jiggs meh.

Diddy is like that in reverse for every other character; you can dash-attack down-air like 80% of the cast to knock them off stage and kill them at 0% if they don't DI it properly, you can stop everyone's recovery with your own up+b, and you can nair combo heavier characters like 8 times in a row. It's pretty dumb and just requires a modest amount of tech skill, which I remember you having.

What is peppy's tournament? I was planning on poker but if smash 4's announcement is what I think it is I'll want to play Smash more and, depending on what we see, get back into Brawl.

I haven't really played Melee since Brawl came out, I just enter tournaments whenever they're in the same building as a Brawl or PM tournament; it's easy enough to beat the locals and when there are people that can beat me it's typically old friends.

I would love some high profile MMs in Smash 4 though, those were always hype to watch. You planning on playing Smash 4?
