With humble beginnings in arcades, Ninja Gaiden became a series well-known for its fast-paced gameplay, groundbreaking storytelling and cutscenes for its time in the NES era, and brutal difficulty that demanded near-perfection and perhaps a little bit of luck. From this series came one of video games most well-known ninjas, Ryu Hayabusa.

Owned by the merged company Koei Tecmo, Ryu has made a splash in both his own series which saw a revival in the early 2000s and finally coming back home to Nintendo consoles with Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge for the Wii U, to Warriors Orochi, and a playable character in the connected world of the Dead or Alive fighting game series. With Hyrule Warriors an astounding success that helped revitalize and shake up the Warriors-series formula, Koei Tecmo's relationship with Nintendo is a strong one at that. And with Fatal Frame just recently confirmed to be hitting the North American markets later for the Wii U, the collaborations don't seem to be stopping.

Amidst the votes for Shovel Knight, Solid Snake, and other 3rd party candidates that are in the running as potential DLC for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U, it seems that much like a real ninja, Ryu Hayabusa is in the shadows, almost forgotten until it's too late to realize he's right behind you.

He's no stranger to battle. Let's bring him to the latest Smash as Koei Tecmo's rep!

This would be very cool. Although, I think he would fit in a lot better in other fighting games, but Snake was in Brawl, so putting him in Smash is nothing far from what Nintendo has done before. I imagine he'd play like Sheik or Greninja, but faster maybe.
