Eggo Mania was a game released on the GameCube, PS and Xbox of the puzzle genre. It was well received, and from what I can tell was also very popular, and is honestly one of the best games in the entire GameCube's library IMO. The game was basically Tetris, in the way that blocks dropped down and you had to organize them. However, you were an egg. You had to run around on the top of your structure catching the blocks as they fall and placing them throughout your structure, all the while their being water rising from the bottom of the level waiting to swallow you up. It was a versus game, where you could play against another person or another human player, and, as such there were item bubbles which either helped you build your own tower, or helped you destroy your opponent's. Unlike Tetris, if your row had a hole in it, it would be swallowed up by the water, making your structure lower. This is obviously bad, but it means you need precision and careful planning ahead if you want to win. There were 13 characters in all for you to play as, and they didn't have any special features, or anything else of the sort. However, they were nice for if you happened to like a certain character!

So, why Eggo over any other characters?

In this game, Eggo has his name in the title. He was the first character you could play as, and is the best one for interchangeability between characters (which I'll get to later). Alone he doesn't have a huge amount of moveset potential, but if he utilizes parts of every character, he could have something really special with his moves.

OK, but why Eggo over any other characters from any franchise? Especially 3rd Party characters!

Yes, OK, this game was published by Kemco and released on 3 different systems, only one of which was Nintendo's. However, there can't be that many more 3rd-Party characters Nintendo needs to include, right? We've already got Sonic, Pac-Man and Megaman, who are HUGE gaming icons. We probably need a character from Square-Enix (I'm hoping for Slime) and then I can't really think of another that we need. As such, Nintendo could ask Sakurai to choose characters from 3rd-Party games they'd like to be rebooted, or more focused on their own consoles, and Eggo Mania, to me, would be an obvious pick. It is best known for it's time on the GameCube, not on the Playstation 2 or Xbox, and it appears that the graphics are very much catered towards children, so it would be more popular as a Nintendo franchise. It wasn't at all badly received, and it was the best puzzler the GameCube had for the longest time (I've still yet to find a better one, but I guess that's subject to opinion). There aren't many 3rd Party characters left, and now that they exist, the game would feel empty not having any, so in Smash 5 or maybe Smash 6, Eggo could be absolutely perfect for a lovable 3rd Party Character.

But it's just a puzzler game! How would Eggo play?

It might be "just a puzzler game" but it's one with many characters in it. The physical attacks should be easy (utilizing bricks from the game for some attacks, for the rest of it he has hands and feet (not so much arms and legs :p), but for the special attacks he can utilize different aspects from different characters.

Neutral special: Spike. Eggo grows a Mohawk (and gets rid of his cap) and pulls out an electric guitar. He whams on it once, sending out a large circle of sound waves around his character. There would be 4 stages of sounds waves, with the first circle being closest to Eggo. 1st wave - 23% Damage, large knockback. 2nd wave - 18% Damage, Medium-Large Knockback. 3rd wave - 18% damage, Medium knockback. 4th wave - 13% Damage, Small Knockback.

Side Special: Sir Egg-O-Lot. Eggo dons Sir Egg-O-Lot's medieval armour (you can see him on the boxart of the game above. He's the big one under the title of the game) and charges at players, holding out Sir Egg-O-Lot's sword in front of him. This goes from one end of the platform to the other without stopping, less Eggo be hit, which makes this attack heavily stage reliant. It slowly gets weaker the longer the attack. It starts with the stats 32% Damage, Large Knockback, ranging to 18% Damage, Small-Medium knockback. This is from one end of Final Destination to the other. This may seem powerful, but Eggo only travels at his regular dashing speed, so it SHOULD be easy enough to dodge.

Down Special: Bebub. Bebub is the devil egg, so Eggo is quickly engulfed in flames, appearing outside of the flames after it happens as Bebub (as he appears in Eggo Mania), before getting engulfed in flames again, and returning back as Eggo. When the flames appear, the travel horizontally along the stage (even off edges, staying on their regular path a la Luigi's fireballs) trying to attack whoever they can. The flames, like the Sir Egg-O-Lot attack, gets progressively weaker as the attack goes on. The flames are sent out in both directions, though, so from the middle of Final Destination to either ends of it: Start: 18% Damage, Huge knockback, provides burn damage. End: 26% Damage, Little-No Knockback, provides smaller burn damage. It actually boosts in damage percentages, but not in knockback, as the attack goes on.

Up Special: Angelica and Spook. First of all, Angelica (the angel egg) rushes in and grabs Eggo mid-fall, raising him up, and letting the player control Angelica in whichever direction they so wish. This lasts for only about 1 and a half seconds. As Angelica is flying off-screen (always to the top of it), if the player uses his Up-Special again, Eggo will turn into Spook (the ghost egg) and basically perform a recovery attack of Squirtle's Aqua Jet, just without the damage. Angelica provides no damage, too. Both of the attacks provide hitstun, though, and renders a player into their helpless state if in the air. This is just to avoid excessive edge-guarding and let's Eggo land safely.

Final Smash: Water and Bombs and Bricks and AHHHHHH. Good name, yes? Anyway, water begins rising from the bottom of the stage. If a platform is hit by the water it disappears. For all players except for Eggo, who is quickly flown off the stage by Angelica, if they were standing on the platform, they are sent to the top of the water. Blocks fall down from the top of the screen for players to stand on, but if they're below the bricks, they get meteor smashed downwards into the water and killed. If they are in the water, they take damage. If they are out of the water, they don't. This Final Smash will have the bricks falling and players going to the top of the stage. It gets progressively faster, but at the top of the stage is a Hot Air Balloon. Once 2 (in a 4-man brawl) or 1 (in a 3-man or 2-man brawl) players reach the Hot Air Balloon, the slowest player (or already dead one) is KO'd and the match continues as normal. If all players are killed at some point, then the Final Smash ends. The blocks fall progressively faster the higher up you get. Water deals 10% for every full second you're in there. That's quite a lot. If you're meteor smashed by a block, you die. The water destroyed the plaforms for you!

Oh, and there's some bombs. Eggo Mania styled bombs. They don't have an awful lot of knockback, just a bit more damage!

So, do any of you guys have any thoughts on Eggo being in this game? I think he would play really interestingly, making the player focus on precise play because that's what you need to successfully beat his games. And a lot of practice to get used to his playstyle, which one again is what you need to successfully beat his games, lol. His palette swaps/altenate costumes would be Robo, Yolko, Coolio, Funky, Astro, Yolkohama and Poncho, because those aren't represented in his moves.
