Super yoyo glitch

Instead of writing guides on how to use Ness effectively, why couldn't we try to crack this ***** up? I've only heard of it slightly on the smashwiki by accident, and suddently wanted to discover.

However, I haven't experienced this glitch myself but wanted information about it to perhaps try to see how it works and which effects it brings to Ness.

Oh and before I start correcting people, it's a SUPER yoyo glitch, not a regular one. Just in case some of you can't read effectively or thought I was giving the yoyo glitch infernal powers.

If you look at the yyg glitch thread you can see that many people (including simna, eb360, and myself (for vanity's sake)) all tried very hard to discover how the syyg works. So far it's only happened twice, and might turn out to be a random occurence. There are still no vids of it. Hardly anything is known about. I doubt its existence since if a jacket that never wears off is equiped then wouldn't it create some sort of infinite loop when it hits the opponent? As it is now the basic yyg is at the top of Ness' metagame which is probably the hardest out of all the characters to get to.

There is also another attribute of the yyg called teleporting which was discovered early on in the yyg's discovery but it was never found out how this occured to the players and how it works. If this is fully mastered then Ness' recovery would improve tremendously (as Ness would still have his third jump).

Everything that can be done with the yyg has already been summed up in the last post by Eb360 (which was added into the super guide). Unless you feel like you want to discover the syyg, and that teleporting thing, theres nothing left to do.

Special stages ? Characters ? Recovery ?

I'm just trying to get has much info has possible to try to recreate a similar event.

It's somewhere in the yyg thread. Yes it's a huge thread, but in order to understand the yyg you need to read it (I did in one night).

Other useful information

After a WD, Ness can take action on frame 11
The yo-yo usmash hitbox comes out on frame 12
The charge occurrs on frame 13
The yo-yo reaches its maximum length at frame 18
When you teeter off of the edge, Ness spends 13 frames doing an "otto"
After the otto, he goes into "ottowait"

And here's an interesting conversation between Flamestar and Simna who possibly did the glitch.

I know what this is. I did a thunder jacket and jumped into mario, if you move fast enough the thunder jacket combos into itself lol.

I think it's just attaching the dropbox to the side of the stage instead of the floor.

Umbreon Mow is the closest of the ness sanin to my area. OMFG ZOMG. I think it has to do with something about wavedashing off the edge and canceling the yo-yo with the teeter animation. At least we know it has to do with something about the edge or mabye the graphical glitch with the thunder still swirling around Ness. Mabye that's why nintendo took it out in later versions?

Question, if the regular glitch is known to stay attached and reset after a certain amount of hits, wouldn't it be possible to see what controls that value and attempt to manipulate it on emulator?

Yeah, someone in another forum had mentioned that the dropped yoyo hitbox doesnt go away after one hit, but it can only hit something/someone once. They also mentioned that after 8 (i think) hits, that the counter for everyone is reset. I wonder if the super yoyo glitch isnt just because that counter either doesnt work, or doesnt get placed for some reason.

That's a property of all hitboxes. Its not a YYG thing. Its why the black hole glitch works. Either way tho....from what we can tell the SYYG has no connections to hitting 13 targets.

Do you know if all hit boxes from a player share that counter? Like, say I drop a yy hitbox on the ground, does the counter on that hitbox go up when you hit the opponent? Also, are jackets counter stagnant or do they go up when you hit someone?

I'm the one doing the glitch in that video. yeah its a normal one.

So if that's true, then the super yo-yo glitch doesn't follow the hitbox renewal principle. If someone gets hit by pkt2, and is in the area of a death line, does the number of hits from pkt2 get stored onto the jackets counter?

The deadline hitbox and the jacket hitbox are the same. If a deadline hits a target then that target cannot be hit by a jacket using the same yyg. Also, either SYYG doesn't follow the 1-hit per target rule or the SYYG consists of multiple hitboxes that replace each other.

I figured maybe if it followed the counter than somehow it would get stuck as active, maybe the jackets is attached right as the hitbox is refreshed and it gets stuck. Idk honestly, I feel like someone with the ability to mess around with tool assistance would be a lot more likely to discover something more. I'd do it if my computer wasn't an actual toaster.
