That's the thing though - power shouldn't be an issue. Both games play their sound files fine. Smash 3DS has plenty of orchestrated songs. Not to mention the ENTIRETY of Kid Icarus: Uprising's soundtrack.Absolutely love this! It just sounds so fresh and live compared to the 3DS version, but I guess that's to be expected considering the WiiU is a much more powerful console overall.

Furthermore, the 3DS menu theme does sound like it's live, especially since some of the instruments are identical to what the Wii U version has. The Wii U version seems to just be the 3DS version's theme with more instruments thrown in.
So power really isn't the issue here. It's clear this was an intentional decision to some degree. Maybe they knew people would find the Wii U version's launch more exciting and as such, updated the theme to reflect that, making the first time boot up of the Wii U version more special than it would be if it used the exact same track as the 3DS version?
It should also be noted that the E3 demo builds of Smash Wii U had the same theme as the final 3DS build. So they must have updated the theme since then.
Regardless, the 3DS theme almost feels empty by comparison to the Wii U one. I can't wait to have this song blaring when I first boot up the Wii U version.
