You guys know about the Mario Kart TV feature in MK8? For those don't, it's a feature to upload your racing highlights on Miiverse and YouTube. Well, you think we'll be able to do something like this in smash 4?
I think maybe for the 3DS version, but probably only timed battles that are like three-five minutes or lower. Maybe even higher but will take longer to upload. Another reason this could be added is so people can upload their 3DS fights on YouTube and such without a shaking camera or buying some tool.
The WiiU version maybe as well, but you might be able to upload beyond three-five minute battles. And if higher it might not take as long to upload.
Edit: And, according to this, we might have something called a 'replay channel':

I hope they flesh out the online features, because all they have revealed at this point is for fun/ for glory and with friends, which is disappointingly bare.

I can't see it being too in-depth for the 3DS release, but I do love the idea of being able to watch replays that your friends have saved on Wii U. Here's to hoping.

I don't see why this feature would be more likely for the 3DS version, as your post implies, but yeah, I see something similar happening. Honestly if it has all the limitations that MKTV has though it'll be near worthless. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like it though.

The thought never even occurred to me, but I love it. It sounds pretty realistic honestly. As long as Nintendo is nice. xP

Extended time for replays would be good enough for me. But the ability to edit them? That would far surpass my expectations...

If there was an editing tool, I probably wouldn't use it since I wouldn't really have a need for it.

I don't think that would work ideally on the 3DS version. Miiverse and Internet Browser are rather sluggish and inadequate, so an upload feature might seem useless. It could work fine for the Wii U version depending on the implementation, though.

That aside, I honestly don't see them expanding on the replays feature. Sharing or uploading them is possible, but Mario Kart TV only allowed you to upload highlights and not the whole race, so it's almost kind of pointless.

I don't think that's true. There's an option to save the whole race instead of just a highlight reel, but I've never tried uploading it to youtube. I don't see why it wouldn't work, though.

As for the original post, I could definitely see this as a feature for Wii U. Maybe if not at launch then with an update. No way for 3DS, though. It's obvious why you want it, and it would be nice, but I just don't see it happening. I'm sure the game will already be pushing the 3DS to its limits, so adding recording in there would just be more taxing on the system, and likely not worth it. The Wii U, however, is powerful enough to handle it.

Only if we can call it Smash TV.
Nope. That name is owned by WMS Industries (Williams). Sorry.

I feel like a feature like Smash TV would be exclusive to the Wii U version, for some reason, but I would love to have it on the 3DS version.

Would be awesome. I don't need an editing tool though, I have a PC. 3DS can handle it, so I do not see why not. It would probaly be saved to the SD card though, since that's a LOT faster than uploading a video to the internet with your 3DS.

Actually Nintendo rep slipped that you will be able to group yourself up with other players of a similar "level".

That's all he said though, and it's about as vague as you can get.

I would be happy if nintendo would release a PC program that let you transfer your replays from the SD card to your computer and convert them to a normal video format to upload/watch.

YES. This is by far the feature I hope to see most. As someone who can't really afford a capture device, uploading videos after the fact is my best alternative. I hope it happens.

I've wanted this. I don't see any reason why the Wii U version wouldn't have it if it 3DS version has it.

I'm excited for the 3DS version soon!! However, the Wii U version is the beez and will be GOAT for a long time running.

So we need this feature.

The 3DS version will be just as good as the Wii U version, if not better ;)

Brawl's replay data was just wrong in many ways; they're not even actual replays.

Smash 4 should really take a page from the Mario Kart series, as that series knows how replays are supposed to work.

It will be just as good, just not better. Everybody knows this ;)

Mechanically and content-wise about par. HD graphics, more controller options, more music alone makes Wii U better.

Smash TV was designed for HD graphics :4pacman:

lol at expecting a gimped Smash Bros. to be better than the definitive version.

Totally, because the two versions aren't being developed at the same time with different goals and game modes each...it's not like they both suit different needs and they're both great on their own terms, oh, and because a portable Smash Bros. isn't the best thing since sliced bread :I

I'd limit clips to something like 30s-1m to keep it focused on good combos and entertaining things (glitches, for instance, could be showcased this way, and depending on how the replay is loaded, could even assist with replication and fixing on the dev end). I don't want to scrounge through 3-5 minute clips of people spamming taunts when I'm looking for gameplay.

Portable Smash Bros is one of the best ideas ever. I love it. But even I just play my 3DS at home. I mainly game on a TV.

I still wouldn't call the 3ds version 'gimped', however. It is a complete full Smash experience.

Yeah. You can save the whole race, but you can only upload it up to a minute. I think this was a design choice since Nintendo wasn't confident on letting people upload long races, which can cause interruptions, so they felt that a minute was just sufficient.

If such a thing was implemented, I wouldn't even want to get the Wii U version, at least for a long time.

Don't even. This can start another 3DS vs Wii U argument. It's still Smash Bros, just that you can play it on a handheld and console. If you're calling Smash 3dS gimped, then you're calling Smash Wii U Gimped because they both have the same gameplay mechanics

While the Wii U Version does look good and has alot of content, the 3ds does too. It's just that it's not HD and it has less content. But, it's still Smash Bros and people will still buy it. I'm getting both, because I know (even though with the same game mechanics) that both will be a different experience from each other.

I'd love for you to be able to upload replays onto SmashTV/Miiverse/Maaaybe Youtube, but there's going to be some obvious restrictions;
-No Custom Stages (We don't want badness)
-No Names (Again, no badness)
-Maaybe no Mii Fighters (Under my mind's debate, we don't want genital-face)
-Time Limit of 5 Minutes Max. so if we upload online matches we don't get any "Stay at the edge and do nothing for 10 minutes straight" matches (ADD FIGHTING WIREFRAMES TO SUDDEN DEATH PLZ)
And it would probably function like MKTV did with the Editing Function. :)

What do you mean by 'No names'?
Also, I think Mii Fighters should be allowed.

"No Names" as in the names you can use in SSBB for changing controls/tracking stats/ect.

I think everyone is missing what the bets part of uploading smash videos from the 3DS would be. Smash Run, duh! It's be fun as heck to see a Mario Kart styled replay of a match that switches perspective between the fighters in the underground maze! Then you get the match right afterwards which ideally you can change what it is and how long it lasts.

I'd say replays should probably have a ten minute time-limit with a small bit of extra to show the results screen. After all, not everyone can keep track of every point won and lost during a match.

For the record, the Wii U version should have it too, I was mostly just talking about smash run which is why I didn't mention it.
