Smash Ace
Music has always been a big part of smash.Sakurai said:The battle stages of Super Smash Bros. Brawl feature a diverse line-up of game worlds. For example, there are stages based on the Mario universe.
Basically, there is only one song that plays on each stage. But even among the myriad songs of the Mario universe, people probably have different favourites.
Plus, while there may be people who stepped into the Mario universe in the original Nintendo Entertainment System days, surely there are some who first experienced Mario on the Nintendo DS.
With that in mind, I think it’s a bit of a waste to limit that whole universe to just one song.
In Smash 64, we heard some of the most iconic themes in video games remixed in a grand midi format. It's unique style can never truly be recreated.
In Melee we heard even more songs., now beautifully redone in ways we couldn't have imagined before! Melee's soundtrack was awe inspiring. Fans desperately wanted more.
And then in Brawl, My Music happened, giving us and amazing and breathtaking amount of music, all of which sounded amazing. The music in Brawl is one of the few things people can agree was amazing. Truly regarded as one of the best soundtracks of all time!
But what about Smash 4?
Surely My Music, being the huge success that it was, will return. And with it, several new and exciting tracks!
But what will these tracks be?
How about you take a guess?
Groose, Venus, Frost and I have developed a contest.
The challenge? Make the best list of music that you think will appear on a confirmed Smash 4 stage. We'll grade your respective lists and decide a winner per stage. The winner gets their name and song list posted up on the wall of honor (OP) for all of time! Or at least until another DDOS...
Sounds fun, right?
How do you play exactly?
Here's how the game will be played! :D
Step 1: The judges will decide on a stage that is confirmed. Both Wii U and 3DS stages will be used.
Step 2: You think of 5-8 music tracks that you think will be on that stage!
- It's perfectly allowed to pick direct tracks from past smash games. Although try to limit it as much as possible. Smash original stages are the only exception.
- All music that is confirmed to appear on the stage MUST be included on the list. We will post them for you as we go so don't worry about not knowing what's confirmed. Alternatively, you can look at Frostwraith's "Confirmed Stuff in Smash Bros for Wii U/ 3DS." It has every confirmed track in there.
- While selecting tracks, try to think about the grading format. It's posted down below so be sure to read it there.
- Medleys are allowed but we are only going to limit it to one per list.
- The youtube video is a necessity. If you do not have a video, your entry will not be accepted.
- If you have troubles finding a track, contact me. I will gladly help you find it.
- If you decide to have a medley, you must post a video and name for every track appearing in that medley.
There are four categories that we will grade.
- Importance: Are the tracks important to the series or game they are from? Are they iconic in nature? Are they one of those tunes that everyone knows or the developers love to remix?
- Popularity: Are the tracks popular? Even if a track is important and well known, it may be disliked. Try to pick pieces that people like.
- Variety: The music should not be all from one game. Sakurai wouldn't do that and neither should you! :D Also consider the style of music. If the tracks all sound somewhat similar, it may be best to consider other tracks.
- Fit: Do the tracks fit the stage? Furthermore does it suit a fighting game? Now, we will accept a couple of peaceful sounding tracks if the track is popular or important enough. Sakurai did that (The Roost and Midna's Lament being a couple of examples) so we will allow a couple. However, keep it limited.
Each of the judges will grade a list individually.
Each category is graded out of 10. A "1" meaning it didn't follow the criteria at all while "10" meaning it followed it perfectly.
There are four categories so each judge can give out 40 points at maximum.
The judges will then add their individual scores together. The winner is the one who highest score. Simple right?
To help you guys out, we will also write comments, telling you what you could improve on and what you did well in.
We hope you're as excited for this as we are. And with great pleasure! We would like to open this contest!
