It's a free little poll site that doesn't require sign-ups. It's used mostly by communities that are known for being a little anarchic, like Reddit or the *chans, to help come to (or at least attempt to) come to a group consensus on things. It has an IP-checker by default, to prevent multiple submissions (not that checking IPs is a foolproof solution by any means, but it's better than nothing).


So to make a strawpoll like this, you would hold a thread like this open for a few weeks and enter every suggestion you see as an option, as well as any others you might have seen or remember seeing. After that, you'd make a new thread with a certain time limit on voting and enter the vote data when the time was up.

You have to do all the options before putting it up to share. Hence the thread. Usually this is done by creating a thread (like this one) and waiting for enough lot of people to reply, then making a second thread with the actual link to the strawpoll, and finally posting the results in a third thread once a certain amount of time has passed.

That said, Smashboards has its own poll feature when creating a new thread, and restricts voting to once/username. I'm not sure what its limitations are, since I've never used it, but it seems like you can only do one poll per thread. If we wanted to, say, have one poll where you can select any number of characters, and another where you can only select one, then one or both polls would need to use an external service (like strawpoll).

If you want me to, I can make a strawpoll, but it would be best to wait for a week or two for this thread to get a large number of responses before creating it. I've also never created one before, so I may derp it up pretty hard.

This type of poll I have engineered will allow voting up to the closure of the Ballot without stopping. If a tool becomes available that allows late entries and vote changing that would be good, but this is pretty slick how I have it now to toot my own horn.

I don't want to make what ever the"usual" type is, or there would be no point, from my viewpoint.

I was bugged by how such polls were closed while the Ballot hangs wider open than a spaceport's escape hatch after someone tried another xenomorph zoo experiment, dammit Larry.

I was concerned about this, but look at what we have here.
King K. Rool would be in the lead regardless, with a similar amount of likes.
Isaac has the third most amount of likes, and the post only contains his name.
Midna and Wolf Link () has the second most at the moment, and I posted an image with it. However, in a poll (3000+ votes) conducted before the ballot, Isaac was actually right above Midna and Wolf Link in votes.

Conversely, the only other post containing a gif is for Ridley and it only has two likes right now.

I think this is relatively accurate. I do, however, think a sentence or two be added the OP that stresses only to like posts for characters you want rather than because there's a funny gif.

Every poll regarding Smash is going to be unreliable, mate.
So...I say we just wait to see how this thread develops and see if you're right.
And besides that, if you don't like the post made for Bandana Dee, why not try to make a better one?
