It's entirely preference. I find it easier to do literally everything without tapjump.
And obviously, if you choose not to tapjump, you should assign another button to jump. I recommend X, Y, or A (I use A to jump and X/Y to attack cuz I'm weird).
I hop around so much on mains, but seeing as I played him in basically the rest of the series, it's hard for me to not still consider him my main. That said, if I didn't play customs-on I'd probably hit Random more often than not. Thanks!
Also, OH MY GOD SOMEONE ELSE WHO MAINS MARTH IN SM4SH
Well, more accurately, it's easier to have horizontal control, as your control stick isn't going to be pointed up from the jump. But just like how it's "harder" to do certain out-of-shield actions with buttonjump, it's really just a matter of practice and preference.Despite what some say, it does make a difference. Using X/Y is better because you have more horizontal mobility in the air.
Yeah, I know. Non tap jump yoshi is trash. On top of what people are saying, it also depends on which character you use. Yoshi, for example, pretty much requires tap jump off because you don't wanna waste your flutter jump while tossing out SH eggs.
