Intro (you can skip most of this)
Hey guys, PKRS here.
I’ve been a long-time fan of Smash, but didn’t become interested in the competitive scene until just before the documentary came out. Previously I had been heavily invested in the Pokemon TCG scene, which relates back to my tag, of course.
Despite being a relatively new member of this community, I’ve been looking for a great way to provide for the community and help all smashers gain experience and grow together. I personally believe that running a great, solid tournament would be the best way to do so. This isn’t to say that the key figures of the DFW scene haven’t been doing a solid job of this already, but to say that my friends and I have been inspired by them to follow in their footsteps.
VideoGame Vigilantes is a currently defunct YouTube channel where Blank, SABER, and I got together and played Wii U games. It was a fun side-project, but was short-lived. We are attempting to revive it by molding it into a hub for competitive gaming, though our presence at this tourney will be limited (we probably won’t be streaming or doing much besides being TOs and wearing shirts.) Our hope is to turn this one tourney into a series, and have a lot of fun doing so.
---
Anyways, we recently secured a beautiful venue of Ridley proportions. Instead of being cramped in a small card shop or on one table in a game store, the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas has provided us with the Dining Hall of the Collin County Adventure Camp. CCAC is a great place to take your family, friends, school, church group, etc for a number of activities such as canoeing, fishing, archery, BBs, swimming, nature walks, rock climbing, and most recently, getting exposed in PM and Melee Singles.
CCAC’s Dining Hall is extremely large and will accommodate every setup you bring with ease, so please bring them! We want this event to run smoothly and have plenty of setups for friendlies between tourney matches.
Venue Details IMPORTAINT!!
When entering CCAC, take a left and follow the winding road SLOWLY past the first set of buildings, straight back to the Dining Hall. This is the only area we are allowed in. If any wanderers or vandalism is reported, we will lose the venue for future events and might possibly get shut down that day. Even if you hate the tourney we’re running you should still treat the venue with respect so that other TOs can potentially use it in the future.
We are working on having food provided by either the venue, or outside sources, since the nearest restaurants are pretty far away. Until then, plan on packing a lunch. We will provide more info for that in the near future.
Schedule
