Who are Satebo and Parabo? Well here they are

(Parabo on the left and Satebo on the right)

They are the mascot for Satellaview, the satellite modem add-on for Nintendo's Super Famicom.

These guys would be to the Super Nintendo as R.O.B. is to the NES and Mr Game & Watch is to the G&W.

Learn more here http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellaview

Why them? Simple, They would represent the Super Famicon/Nintendo and their design would make for a unique moveset. Like a cross between Rosalina and Ice Climbers, perhaps with a more teamwork focused moveset. The Satellaview is actually more important then you initially thought as it made way future systems like Xbox live and Virtual Console

Working Progress, feel free to help contribute

Standard B: Parabo would call Satebo and place him in front of him and Satebo will stay there stationary, would cause damage to those where Satebo appears.

Side Special: Similar to Luma Shot, but Satebo will keep going even after his intial damaging phase and will bounce back and forth of walls and will go to the other side of the screen when he hits the blast line (Think Balloon Fight). the more you charge, the faster Satebo will travel.

Down Special: Where ever Satebo is, he will warp away causing an explosion damaging nearby opponents (Parabo can't be damaged from it though)

Up Special: Satebo will appear at Parabos feet and act as a spring for him similar to the mat from mappy for Pac-Man, however Satebo doesn't disappear, but instead every time you land on him, you go higher and higher and going to high can KO you. Satebo will also rotate left and right making it to land on him and can send you to places you don't want to be (Think the springs in Windy Hill zone)

Final Smash: A mixture of Zero Suit Samus Final Smash and Lucarios, Parabo will call forth a giant satellite at the top of the screen to fire giant lasers at people which you can aim. You can fire up to 5 laser beams. So think Zero Suit Samus' with the controls of Lucarios.

Side Smash - Parabo would send out a laser from the dish on his head out towards Satebo, when he isn't facing Satebo, it will go to the blast line and appear on the other side, when Satebo is waiting to be summoned he will just send sparks in front of him. It has the potential to have the largest range of any smash attack but it doesn't have much kill power

Up Smash - Very similar to Lucas' up smash, sending powerful sparks from his dish.

Down Smash - Sends out signals from either side of him similar to Lucarios aura and Pac-Mans ghosts for their down smash.

Neutral Air - Curls into a ball then and then stretches his body glowing with sparks.
Forward Air - Throws out a ball of energy that travels quickly to Satebo, travelling towards him just like his smash attack, power akin to Villagers slingshot
Back Air - Acts just like his forward air but sends the energy backwards.
Down Air - A powerful meteor smash that is similar to his up smash, obviously sending the sparks downwards.
Up Air - Sends a signal above him, pretty good and has some kill potential

standard - points finger in front of him, punchs with other hand and then starts causing sparks in front of him followed by a small bolt for a finisher.
Forward Tilt - does a 360 turn and hits in front with his tail (yep he has a tail)
Up Tilt - Pulls out an ancient tablet from one of the BS zelda and holds it above his head
Down Tilt - Lies down and swings his body around in a circle.
Dash - Dive bombs in front while sparks fly from his dish
Get up - Does a bit of push up while striking those in front with his dish and those behind with a tail
Edge get up - Gets up and points in front of him causing sparks

Grabs: Basic tries to grab with hands
Pummel: Headbutts the opponent hitting them with his his satellite with electrical effects.
Forward: Paralyzes the opponent followed by a drop kick
Up: Places opponent above head to multihit with electricity
Down: Slams on ground and whacks them away with his tail
Back: Throws them back, (I know, CREATIVE)

Comic featuring these two.

Just some music

As interesting as they look, I don't think they are playable character material. But I'd like to see them in the game somehow.

I have no idea who they are and don't expect anymore besides Gematsu, but I must admit, I'm impressed by this idea. Add me to the support list.

So you think Sakurai will only have one or two hidden newcomers?

Anyway, thanks for the support.

I've never heard of them until today, but they actually do look like they'd be fun to have. Plus it'd be another retro revival, so count me as a supporter.

Is there a link to the response to this?
Thank you, and people were basically pissed that a "controller" was playable while Geno wasn't.

I was quickly scrolling through threads and thought this thread was called "Satan and Pumbaa." I kid you not.

That being said, the Satellite guy could be interesting.

Eh, I don't really support them, to be honest. They could be neat, but it's too late in the game for me to support something that likely won't happen, to avoid disappointment. :p

Why not? Mario Kart 8 did it and it usually keeps secrets until release.
Characters aren't important in Mario Kart and Sakurai has ALWAYS kept characters secret in Smash Bros.

Its foolish to think otherwise, And this has nothing to with Parabo and Satebo.

I was thinking they could potentially go the R.O.B. route and use classic looking SNES levels in 16-bit glory, similar to Mario Bros and Balloon Fight.

Sorry for double post.

My ideas on the moveset.

Their gimmick would involve placement of Satebo who would act similar to a wall (or backshield)

I'll add this to OP.

I am unsure if I want this character team. I think I would prefer a special character from a 16-bit game to represent the SNES, but this team would be a more meaningful representation of that time. Either way, I would strongly want any character meant to represent this time to use 16-bit sound effects.

2 new supporters in 1 day!

And you never know when it comes to the old retro/obscure character. In Melee, we got Mr Game & Watch, in Brawl, we got R.O.B., And Sakurai specifically said Wii Fit Trainer wasn't the surprise of this game.

Parabo & Satebo are the most unique potential character Sakurai could pick and the Satellaview was what made way for other internet services like Virtual Console and XBox live.

Hey guys, according to this list, how would the Satellaview mascots moveset be classified? (hybrid classes are possible):

Zoner - Character whose strength lies in forcing their opponent to stay in a certain area. Ex: :4marth:

Ranger - Character whose strength lies in their ranged attacks to force opponents to keep their distance. Ex: :4link:

Speedster - Character whose strength lies in their speed and ability to overwhelm their opponents with relentless attacks. Ex: :4pikachu:

Trickster - Character whose strength lies in a quirky moveset that is hard to predict and can alter the battle field. Ex: :4villager:

Bruiser - Character whose strength lies in devastating attacks to quickly finish off opponents. Ex: :4falcon:

Resistor - Character whose strength lies in super armor that allows them to tank hits to strike down opponents. Ex: :4bowser:

Puppeteer - Character whose strength lies in overwhelming opponents with relentless attacks stopping opponents from striking back. Strength in numbers. Ex: :rosalina:

Juggler - Character whose strength lies in being able to string combos together to finish off opponents. Ex: :4luigi:

From my moveset, Puppeteer would be the closest thing. However, they would really just be their own unique character.

Speaking of which, here are Smash attacks and aerial attacks.

Up Air - Sends a signal above him, very decent and can be used to kill.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Sounds good to me. I see them being a mix of Rosalina and Luma and the Ice Climbers.
