On any plans for additional characters or stages as DLC…

I understand that DLC could add a lot to the appeal of Smash Bros., and I appreciate that a major part of the excitement for these games come from which characters will appear in the roster, so I think fans could really enjoy DLC that could keep this excitement going. However, I think there might be criticism that we are cutting up content to sell characters one by one, or that we are adding things later that should have been there from the start.

Creating a single fighter involves a huge investment, and we’ve already been giving it our all and investing a lot of work in the characters currently available in the game and, I think it’s an incredible package in terms of the sheer amount of content in the game. But it might be that people may not understand and may think that I am not offering enough by just looking at DLC itself.

In light of this, we always need to weigh up both sides of this topic and carefully consider whether it really is best to have DLC or not.

However, what I can say now about paid DLC is that we aren’t working on anything at the moment. We’ve put all our efforts into making the actual game. Creating DLC would involve large additional costs and require the involvement of a lot of people. I can’t yet give you an answer about whether the price would justify the costs and criticisms mentioned above.

Sounds like he hasn't completely decided if he wants to dedicate time for additional DLC outside Mewtwo and the unfinished content planned for Wii U version. (Now it's safe to say Mewtwo was likely planned to be in the initial roster to begin with?)

But like @ Supersmashbrothers. Supersmashbrothers. said, nothing to panic about. While we already have plenty of content with the game, DLC support is already prepared in advance if the datamined files says anything. I'm confident that the Mewtwo DLC will sell incredibly well and they'll work on more DLC. I'm more interested in stage DLCs personally though.

He's definitely at the moment just not wanting to focus on it now. There are still content for Wii U that will be available in the future via patches. Such as tourneys and Miiverse stage for the Wii U version, not to mention balance patches. So I guess that's what they're all focusing on right now.

He's doing what all developers should do (Looking at you Hyrule Warriors) and focusing on the actual game before planning DLC.

Thoughts? Everyone needs to calm the hell down. The Wii U version isn't out yet. And Mewtwo DLC is coming later on anyway.
The full game isn't out yet and people are worried about DLC? What?
Mewtwo DLC is not "premium" DLC. You get it as a free bonus for owning both version of the game in advance.

So it doesn't mean anything in relation to the situation.

On the other side of the coin, free DLC is not impossible. That probably won't mean characters, but I could see new costumes for the characters being added. We know that the alt outfit for ZSS only took like a week or so to make, so I could easily see them offering costumes as free DLC.

Yep i think mewtwo was planned for the roster from the begining

But history repeated himself with brawl so he refused to let it happen again so he improvised with mewtwo being free for those with club nintendo and have both versions and probably a small fee for everyone else who wants to use him without both versions
