New smash online information

I'm not sure if this is where to share this but here goes.

Nintendo of Canada posted gameplay and commented about online play features. You will be able to keep track of how you do and join groups for different levels of play or region based.

Yes you will have that..but it also means groups for competitive players which will hopefully make it easier to do tournies and find people to practice with.

That is very true. It's always good to look on the positive outlook on things rather than the bleak!

I like that idea. It would be sweet to have an easy way for crew battles. Just find a list of crews and maybe send them a message or something

edit: Nintendo of Canada later announced it was a slip up, and that Rayman is not a playable character.

It may have been a slip, but If Sakurai says Namco isn't getting any special treatment yet he adds Pac Man then who knows. He's unpredictable. They can say that Rayman isn't a playable character, but this could be a cover up, no?

I wasn't expecting Rayman to be playable anyway. I love his games, but his inclusion would just saturate the roster when its meant to focus on pure Nintendo characters. (At least Mega Man, Sonic and Pac-Man had a hand in Nintendo history to justify playable status.)

Besides that, if he is meant to be playable, why would Sakurai bring his trophy up early in PotD? Why can't he just be a nice nod to other game series?

This. Still crossing fingers for actual playable Rayman though. Probably never gonna happen in a Smash game but it would be awesome! Though I do also kind of agree with the sentiment that characters should be taken from Nintendo's history. Snake always seemed like the black sheep in Brawl to me...

On topic: I'm all in for online groups and statistics!

Namco WASN'T getting special treatment. Shigeru Miyamoto has been personally begging Sakurai to put him in since Brawl.

They are all a part of Ninendo's history. A big part, may I add.
Pac Man and Mega Man represent an earlier time in Nintendo's history.
Sonic may be a later addition, but he's owned by Ninendo and has made a huge contribution on his own right.

Yeah, I pretty much understand. I feel the same about Snake. He had no real impact on Nintendo's history.

But I thought Sakurai had everything planned before the game had even started developing, except for the Lucina part where she replaced a cut character.
