[New] Online Tournament Crews: Read the OP

First and foremost, welcome. As some of you may know, a member by the name of Toadsteroven created this thread

However, since then, the number of crews have grown....but the actual OP has yet to be tampered with! So, with that thought in mind, I set out to find a brave warrior who would undertake this very important task. Finding no one worthy, I have taken it upon myself to ensure that Smashboards' Online Crews are kept organized and up-to-date. A lot of the basic guidelines will be taken from that thread, but with a few added changes to the ranking system. Without further ado, let's begin/

Note:
If you want your crew to participate in a lot of crew battles, don't just wait for other crews to pose challenges! Challenge them yourself. This will make other crews want to pose more challenges in the future, making the activity on this section flourish.
On that note, if you want to join a crew, don't be afraid to ask a crew's captain, if a certain crew interests you. Posting in the thread, something along the lines of "What crew needs members? I wanna join one" will get you nowhere. Think of it as a job application. Very rarely will crew captains look around the thread for crew members. So go for it! :3

The "Guest" rule is being changed, to be a guest in a crew battle you can NOT be in another crew. The only people able to be guests are people without a crew. Also...... Make sure that you're only in ONE crew or you may be notified about being in multiple crews.

Teams/Crews are like family the same way you and a group of friends/colleagues are considered "family". Therefore, joining an OTL team/crew or making your own is a commitment in that its your responsibility to stay active and keep up with your new family. It is up to the leader(s) to keep up with all aspects of their team/crew including updating the roster as people both come and go, (hey it happens.) keeping track of Team/Crew Battles won and lost, etc

1.Name your team/crew something sensible. Nothing stupid like "I Did Your Mum" or downright inappropriate like "Heil Hitler: Modern Day Nazis" and make sure its a name easy to remember and is short and to the point. No "XXX_HaRdCoRE SuhMaSHerZ_GiT ReKt N00b_XXX" Try "Seasoned Smashers" instead :)When you are done creating your crew, make a post in this thread letting the rest of us know and so this thread can be updated.

2. As far as advertising your team/crew goes, putting something like "Interested in joining an OTL crew? PM me for more info about the Iron Wolves" in your signature is fine. Blatantly advertising your team/crew is NOT fine! Example: "HEY GUYZ YOU SHOULD TOTALLY LIKE JOIN MY OTL TEAM"

3. As team/crew leader, it is your responsibility to keep up to date on all that happens in your team/crew such as wins/losses and how much BP your group has as well as update the roster as people come and go. You can appoint other members in your team/crew to help you run things. i.e you could perhaps make someone in charge of video footage of any battles you participate in for example or assign a treasurer to handle all things BP related.

You are allowed to make a banner for your team as visual representation for your team/crew is useful for those in touch with the visual side of their brains and is much easier for some than remembering a mere name. Again, nothing offensive/inappropriate should be in your team/crew banner. No huge *** banners either. They should be a size appropriate for the forums. If you need an idea of the length for images allowed, I would suggest getting in contact with one of the admins who run SmashBoards like WarChamp7 or simply read the rules and guidelines for SmashBoards. If you or any of your friends lack artistic skills, feel free to PM me with a lengthy enough description of what exactly you want in your banner and I will try to match to those specifications as best I can.

Now its time to get to the meat and bones of crews. BATTLES!!!! What good is joining/making a crew if you can't battle with other crews? Once there are at least a few teams/crews that have been formed and are ready to battle, Crew Battles will commence! Starting one is simple, there will be a thread dedicated to Crews complete with a list of which members are a part of which crew. This very thread will in addition to listing various teams will also double as a rankings thread. so you can know which crews are good and which would be on your crew's skill level. PM the leader of the opposing team and challenge them to a crew battle. If both he/she and the leader of your team (unless you are said leader) agree, a crew battle shall begin!
Name the terms and conditions of your battle. i.e best 3 out of 5 overall with each battle consisting of one member from your team and one member from the opposing team battling to the best 3 out of 5. As crew leader, you and the leader of the opposing team should try to match up your crew mates in a way that's as fair as can be. i.e don't send your strongest member against the opposing teams weakest member and vice versa. More rules (that are reasonable) should be decided upon before the crew battle starts (set up a reasonable time for both parties and be sure to PM everybody in your crew of this development well in advance.)

The juicy stuff. I will be hosting events now and again, as mini-tournaments for the crews to enter. These tournaments WILL give you normal BP by winning a battle, but win the tournament, and you'll get bonus BP as well (amount to be decided, but between 5-10 BP sounds nice)

Each crew will receive 3 Battle Points each time they win a crew battle. A crew cannot lose BP, until further notice. This is still in a testing stage, but it feels far too unfair to the less experienced crews if they lose BP each time they lose.

If a crew is B or A rank, losing a crew battle loses you 2 BP.

If a crew is S rank, losing a crew battle loses you 5 BP

E-rank: 5 BP - 9 BP
D-rank: 10 BP to 19 BP
C-rank: 20 BP to 34BP
B-rank: 35 BP to 59 BP
A-rank: 60 BP to 99 BP

I'm new to the smashboards (Now part of TMT), but... I've been wondering...

Why isn't there a limit to how many people can be in a crew? Wouldn't it be more productive to set a MAX limit on each crew count? There would be more crews yes, but it would also bring about much more crew battles and more active crews.

Also, why is the Crew Section part of the Online Tournament Section? Why doesn't it have it's own forum? It would be cool to see each Crew have it's own topic and how they represent themselves and their record and etc...

That's how it was back in the day when I played Yu-Gi-Oh on XDA (WAY BACK IN THE DAY) and it worked out amazingly!

IDK, just wanted to asked why these things weren't like that...

if there were max limits, there wouldn't be a difference in activity, and no there wouldn't be more crews lol. Also, sizes of crew battles are always determined by how many members and crew has and can use. If there was a max limit, that would limit crew battles and more active crews, js. Can't add anything more

No one needs that many people in crew, like some of crews here. Limits to the members in each crew would equal more active crews and more crew battles, if everybody that joins a crew is actually joining a crew so they can test their skills against others outside of the crew. I don't know how many crew battles actually go on, but it doesn't seem like it's a lot, at all. But then again, only the OP can change the record publicly on Smashboards.

unsure whether this is the right place to post this but I wanted to ask. The majority of our crew meet up irl to play smash. Would it be against the rules for us all to play on one Wii U?

we could always put on a webcam to prove that nothing shady is going down LMAO, we were just making plans and I realized that we could get accused of having one person play for the whole crew under a different tag.

Sounds fine to me. Honestly like, that just makes it easier to determine who to add and you guys can just keep a room up to join lol. Also I mean, if you're that much of a douche to make only one person to play (probably the best person you guys have) then you're not really a crew we'd go back to, and you'd also be leaving everyone else out lol. But yea I mean, it's kinda like reporting scores and stuff, if you don't report it right, or keep the score right, then you're a **** lol. Otherwise seems fine to me.

yeah that's exactly how I see it. a lot of our crew members have jobs and other commitments so being able to organize a day where we can all meet up and do a few crew battles is far more convenient than trying to get everyone online at the same time lol.

We are generally open to many rules as long as it is 3 stocks. We generally allow customs if wanted, and we do want to play with customs!

Anyways, we are open to any challenges to either 5v5 or 7v7.
