@Thinkaman thinks Dtilt is absolutely worthless. Thoughts?
The only fault I see with it is that it doesn't really fit into the Super Speed game.
It's her only tilt that can do the usual tilt utility of spacing and poking on the ground,
is pretty safe when spaced correctly and can yield punishes when it clanks.

I don't think it's useless. It has ridiclously long startup, but it's good at stuffing attacks and limited approaches. For instance, I sometimes use it against Sonic when he runs or spindashes towards me.

But eh, what do I know?

I don't find it's startup that bad. It's slow enough to be bad at close combat (where you'll be jabbing
or grabbing anyways), but you can usually get away with throwing it out at it's maximum range, useful
since it's her longest ranged move on the ground that's relatively safe, and it's unique staff properties
make it good at challenging attempts by opponents to space you out.

I don't think down tilt is useless. In fact, quite the opposite. It gives Palu a good variety of options, and is arguably one of her best moves.

D-tilt definitely ain't useless. Those who played me know I do like to use it from time to time, and it is my most used tilt. It can hit spotdodgers who were expecting a faster attack to come out.

What is this D Tilt conversation going on? This has been recognoized as Palutena's best tilt since before I took a rest from this place, I guess this Thinkaman is some short of famous tournament material player, but it's the tilt I use more frecuently, sometimes when my oponnent try to get out of the D-Throw, F-Air "combo" I just go to D-Tilt in case they predicted the Jab, at least works wonders for me, yet I am talking about standard set, so maybe it's really worthless in a Super Speed game?

D-Tilt kills at +170% a really powerful yet unused tool in Palutena's arsenal... metagame changing right here :awesome:

I am still surprised almost nobody notices differences in the 3DS version with the new patch, I guess nobody will care until this impact WiiU if it hasn't already, to bad for me for only having the 3DS version then

I agree that D-Tilt is her best and most useful tilt! It's pretty fast, and covers some good range. I've had a couple people run into it because they didn't understand what I was doing, so it's got that going for it. People have accidental F-Tilts, but D-Tilt almost always used intentionally.

Don't know if he's famous, but @Thinkaman is a prominent presence in the Palutena boards.
He did a rundown of Palutena's normals in the competitive discussion thread and called dtilt absolutely
useless. The only way this is understandable is if he was thinking super speed, since dtilt is more of
a defense move.

Also has anyone managed to catch ledge snapping with it? I know it can hit ledge hangers,
and I've hit Falcon with Up Smash before he could grab the edge.

By 3DS differences you mean Uair visual changes?

woah woah woah... I just tested this yesterday. it kills bowser at like 140 if you use it to edge guard. are you sure 170?

idk D-tilt is pretty useful on the ledge I think. Especially to kill. It comes out quick to kill when you can't get a smash attaack in. and when people DI d-throw. And when its too early for u-throw to kill.

Hot damn Palutena with customs on looks so fancy. She alone is reason enough to push customs.

Well that is why I said I was unsure if D-Tilt if really useless on a Super Speed metagame, but in a standard set I am not really of the idea it's useless, in fact I believe every move have its uses acording to situations even that generally really crappy U-Tilt, on the subjetct of differences, I notice that level 9 cpus are harder to beat, but I wasn't sure if this was just me getting the placebo effect, to name a few examples, I don't remember Sheik using Bouncing Fish as a recovery, and the speed up recovery that Wii Fit Trainer got, yet again it could be just me imagining things but I used WiiFit as an opponent multiple times and I see that her recovery is faster now.

Now that you mention it I haven't noticed the change in U-Air so I need to check that out. In the end if people tell me I am under placebo then well sorry for the confusion.

I am actually glad you tested this, when I wrote the 170% it was because I killed Ike at that porcentage while edge guarding, so I actually didn't tested if the KO could be achieved at lower porcentages, it still suprised me to get the KO.

But if this kill Bowser at 140% this makes this move even better.

What's is the porcentage for U-Throw to kill?? I didn't see that throw as KO potencial when even at 180%+ you fail to kill with back throw (from the center of the stage).

Yeah, I've found Utilt to be extremely effective when dealing with Jigglypuff. More often than not, she'll leap toward you, air dodge (to negate an Autoreticle or other preemptive strike), then move in to attack your upper body with Pound, Nair, or Bair. Not only does Utilt reduce Palu's hurtbox, it also perfectly traps Jiggs for maximum damage and surprisingly solid knockback.

Hello, I've been playing Palutena for some time now and I've taken a liking for her, even though some people find her underrated. Hope to learn more from you guys!

So, I just want to share with everyone that Palutena has a true dthrow to dair spike offstage combo in Lightweight form if the opponent DIs away/down and away.

Unless of course, everyone already knows this and I'm late to the party. >.< xD

So I go online today with Palu, and bump into a Yoshi player. We have 3 matches (and I won all 3 of them) and than after that, he pulls out a text message using the nametags saying, and I quote, "OP*CHARS" ~ "UR TRASH." Palutena........OP? I've never laughed that hard in my life.

I two-stocked some kid's Lucina and Bowser as Palutena the other day, and I was rewarded with "YOURaBABY." :awesome:

I come back from overseas with no internet to see consideration for customs, this is beautiful finally people will play characters they like and then remember Donkey Kong and his up special, rip in peace actual skill.
People like you are part of the problem. You're seriously overrating it. Same with those who cite Piston Punch's extremely situational OHKO.

With luck this will make Palutena really shine, to be honest I haven't used Lightweight that much since most of the time my only resource is to play on for Glory, so make the community proud all of you who can actually attent tournaments and stuff.

I never understood the custom ban to be honest, this give me a flashback back at Pokemon prior to gen 4 when Mew and Wobuffet where cataloged as UBER tier even without actual testing just because learning every move and having Shadow Tag was clearly OP,
then in Gen 5 they released how wrong they were. By the way sorry if people don't know what I am actually talking but this is the closest example to come to my mind

Honestly people complaining over custom without even knowing who the game is going to develop are looking for excuses for their bad performance before hand

Ok buddy, it was a joke, sorry. I've really been praying that Apex wouldn't make customs off forever, Palutena with customs is just way more fun imo. I wish this news was as big for every other character as our own, I also play Toon Link and I think he's customs are awful but that may be based off being so used to how he played in Brawl.

Evo's probably not going to solidify the rules just like Apex didn't so we'll all have to keep pushing for customs still (unless you prefer default Palutena but hey why not let us have more options?)

I actually love the idea of the use of customs moves. Opens up various possibilities, and can add more uniqueness to players. In some cases, it could make a character's play style completely different from another, even if they are the same character.

The only question now, is what to do with equipments. I'm pretty neutral with them, but I can't help to get intrigued every time I see that Smooth Lander.

Maybe it's just me, but didn't you guys feel that pseudo-Tuna was way sexier than the real deal?

Either way, look at seaweed hair trying to be all fancy.

Now observe how her swag pales in comparison to our girl Zelda.Clearly, Miss Hylia herself is the winner, hands down.
