It's pretty apparent some of you guys don't know much about this match-up.
This.

Kewkky seemed to be the only one who knows what he's talking about, which is weird, because I didn't think there were many ROBs in PR.

I haven't played much brawl in the past year and 1/2 but I'm trying to get back into it.

ROB always seemed like one of Kirby's more difficult matchups IMO.

Definitely not an auto-win, and ROB is definitely beatable. The only thing is it forces an approach unless we get the lead, at which point we can air-camp/plank to force an approach.

My biggest issue with this MU is ROB's Ftilt TBH. That thing is a *****.

I never had trouble with any Kirbys and don't see why I would when Kirby can't seem to get near R.O.B.... and when he does it's not in his advantage to be there. haha

I don't really need to say anything here as t1mmy will probably be saying everything I would.

It's not, but when he's not approaching me, and I actually hit him with a projectile, I would win if he doesn't approach still. :D

Looks like the R.O.B./Robot players know this match-up better than the Kirby players. XD

I'm looking forward to what Mr. Eric has to say. <beep3

I looked at the fisrt post, and it really needs some editing...

kirby’s pros+cons:
+great aerial game
+strong kill move
+good combo/juggle options
+superior close-quarters skills

-lightweight
-lacks projectile

r.o.b’s pros+cons:
+good camping game, but kirby can work around it
+can wall projectiles
+good recovery to avoid dair gimps
+disjointed hitboxes along with reach.

-predictable game plan (wall of projectiles and camp)
-very slow airspeed
-has a blind spot that can be exploited
Change that ...
to this:

-----------------------------------------
Kirby's +PROs and -CONs:
---------------------------------

+ great aerial game
+ good combo/juggle options
+ superior close-quarters skills

+ Strong KO options

- lacks projectile
- Lightweight
- Poor Long-Distance game
- Can get D-air'd by ROB after a Copy

-----------------------------------------
R.O.B.'s +PROs and -CONs:
---------------------------------

+ good camping game, but kirby can work around it
+ can wall projectiles
<-- I don't even know what this means.
+ good recovery to avoid dair gimps
+ Superior Long-Range game
+ Excellent Recovery options; very difficult to gimp
+ Excellent Close-Range attacks
+ Disjointed Hitboxes

- predictable game plan (wall of projectiles and camp)
- has a blind spot that can be exploited
<-- Kirby doesn't 'exploit' this
- Slow airspeed

Agree with this, with the most emphasis on what I see as the most important.

However, Kirby can kinda combo ROB. Not as hard as some, but he has decent-ish combo options up until the late-mid percents.

For the sake of this matchup summary and the fact that I can concede I don't know this matchup as well as you guys prolly do I'll go ahead and change it.

Feel free to give any more corrections or advice you feel may help the summary.

Really just looking at T!mmy's Pro and Con list, a great deal can be seen about this matchup. Perhaps the most evident point is that Kirby's only real match up advantage is in his ability to KO, which can be very difficult to take advantage of since ROB is more difficult to combo. ROB's floatiness seems to nullify Kirby's primary asset of being able to combo (although Kirby still can "combo," but it is more commonly the result of player-to-player reading, and is therefore not a viable argument for matchups).

ROB, on the other hand, beats Kirby from a distance hands down (even if Kirby has the lazer) and can provide Kirby with a major challenge up close. I mention Kirby having the lazer because even though it gives Kirby a projectile, ROB still has the Gyro that he can use against Kirby should Kirby ever land (which he most certainly has to do). Having the lazer improves Kirby's matchup against ROB, but not enough to even push it into Kirby's favor.

If Kirby has any hope of winning this match, he has to approach because he has no way to damage ROB from a distance. Even if Kirby gets ROB's lazer, rest assured, skilled ROB mains will know how to use ROB's lazer than will skilled Kirby mains (unless, of course, those Kirby mains main ROB). Overall, this matchup is slanted in ROB's favor. Perhaps a 60:40 ratio, ROB's favor, is reasonable?

Actually, ROB is fairly easy to 'combo' because his weight sort of nullifies the floatiness of his character. Also, ROB has weird animations that seem to make it easier to get strings of attacks going on him - the most notable example is the way he moves when footstooled.

A 60:40 ratio would sound reasonable ... if ROB had better KO options. It's really not that bad of a match-up for Kirby, it's just in ROB's favor due to certain factors. 55:45 is probably a more accurate ratio, but I think just saying it's "Slightly Disadvantaged For Kirby" is fine.
