Yes he is the offspring of Fox and Krystal McCloud. Not many people know about him due to his very small appearance in ending #2 of StarFox Command "Goodbye Fox" in my opinion the worst game in the series. The Starfox series is in a place where if they choose to continue the series it will be in the form of a prequel with Fox's father James or a Continuation to the Story most of us know with Marcus and his very own StarFox team.

Marcus has the skill and training of his father Fox along with the blue fur and telekinetic abilities of his mother....A very sexy combination with these skills I Believe it would make for a very interesting move set. Personally I would love to see this happen but the characters I hope for never seem to make the cut. Also 3 space animals doesn't cut it for me a 4th wouldn't hurt ....That is all

I like the StarFox series myself, but yeah...Marcus definitely wouldn't make the cut. If StarFox got another representative, I'd rather have it be Krystal. The fact that Marcus is known by very few (he'd only be known by those who have been keeping up with the series faithfully) eliminates his chances IMO. I do find the concept you offered for his character in Smash intriguing however. But I'd think Krystal would come before Marcus in this case, and I don't think StarFox would get more than 4 reps anyway..hell, they may only stick with just 3..

He has potential if the series ever goes anywhere, but as of now: 0% chance. He is featured in an alternate ending of a DS Star Fox game.

Odds are, he may never be canonized. He's as canonical as Fox and Falco becoming F-Zero racers.

A palette swap is pretty much the only road that Marcus is going there. Also, may I suggest improving the primary post, as there are still some things that are lacking.

Well, since I didn't even *know* about Marcus until this thread, I'm not entirely sure of his chances, considering he's only appeared in one of Command's many endings. However, I'd give him a shot as a color choice, and really want to see if they make him relevant in future games.

Cameo is possible although still unlikely. Trophy will be his biggest honor. Otherwise nothing at all.

As far the palette swap discussion goes, they could give Fox blue fur, but those unfamiliar with Marcus wouldn't understand its significance..if the StarFox series is going to continue with Marcus, I'd say the best thing to do would have him either be a trophy, or if they have Adventure Mode in Smash 4 where each character gets their own side quest dealing with characters and stages from their respective games, then have Marcus make an appearance using Fox or Falco in Adventure Mode.

Other than that, it's just hopeful wishing from Starfox fans.

I think the series killed itself already. But I do not think another game should be made unless a team really tries to make it as a redemption attempt.

Assault was an amazing game. Adventures wasn't bad... Just....not really Stafox. Don't retire the series. It has so much potential.

Also Marcus only has a shot as a Fox alternate costume/recolor.

I'll be okay with this. In fact, I'd actually be thrilled. I guess I'm pushing retirement on the series because of my own personal worries of the series being taken in the wrong direction. I should have some more faith though. SF would be fantastic on the Wii U.

This, except I wouldn't necessarily call Assault amazing, but it was playable, compared to Command at least. And despite how different it was from the SF formula, Adventures was one of my favorites in the series (not because of Krystal's introduction mind you), so I disagree with whoever says the series should be rebooted after the events of SF64 and retcon all the other games (with the exception of Command). If there's gonna be a reboot, then it may as well be a full reboot.

As for Marcus, I doubt Sakurai even knows he existed. He's as bottom-of-the-barrel as it gets far as SF content.

It's the game that Miyamoto wants to see be made, and we KNOW there was a Metroid x SF game being tossed around by Nintendo for the Wii u, but it was scrapped for another idea. The idea was SFWiiU

How do you know this? All I know is that Platinum Games said they wanted to make a StarFox game. And seen how Nintendo is probably going to buy PG, I think they're the best shot.

Still, I'd just want a reboot of the franchise, with a much greater mythology and some free roaming.

A full reboot would be nice or even a prequel with James. Seeing Andross in a ship before he turned into a giant head would be cool. But either way, more freedom, more secrets, and more areas to explore would be nice.

Because really StarFox like the way it is works only as a continuing reboot. Lylat Wars was basically a reboot (remake). Adventures is a spin-off with just the end that ties everything with the original storyline. Assault and Command are nice as sequels, but they don't offer that many differences as story and character development.

A reboot with a more mythology-filled background, a more deep characterization of the environment as of cities/planets and inhabitants, and a better character development (maybe more mature?) is the way to launch this series again if you ask me. If they just make a Lylat Wars 2 HD it would be cool don't get me wrong, but only for nostalgia's sake. It would make the fans happy, but the non-fans un-interested, and the franchise would die, again...

I've been thinking about a reboot for a while now, I think the original set is OK, but they need to expand it, a lot. It should be an AAA title like Zelda. Free roaming on different planets on foot, like Adventures but better, would be great. Just imagine walking around Corneria not blasting stuff like in Assault, but talking to people, buying things, making quests. Also I liked the strategy involved in Command, even if really basic. I would love to see something like preparing the positions of the StarFox team before a mission, if not on rail like some levels in Lylat Wars. Also you can bring new mercenaries in your team if you pay them enough or if you do a favor to them. I remember how the Great Fox was all broken in Assault because Fox's was "unemployed". It would be incredibly cool if you had to maintain not only the mercenaries, but the Airwings too. Anybody has seen the TV show Firefly? Something like that would be awesome. Also, if in a mission some of your mercenaries dies, he stays dead like in Mass Effect...

The more important thing I'm interested in anyway is the storyline. I want the new SF game filled with cutscenes and well-written dialogues. Not the same old "Do the barrel roll". The possibilities are a lot really, they just have to find a great studio capable of doing this (Retro Studios, Platinum Games).

That...would be THE worst possible choice the SF franchise should take. At this point I don't really trust Nintendo to make the next game unless Retro or Platinum Games makes it. As far as where the story should go, I don't think we need another complete reboot. SF 64 was the 1st reboot for the series and I hear people say 64 3DS is a reboot of a reboot. If that's true then I'll be happy with this decision. That way the devs for the next game can start fresh (somewhat), but if it continues after Assault then I would be satisfied as long as the gameplay and the story and characters are written good.
