... more people should play on it. Less delay=good thing in my book. I don't lag on it, and nor do any of the people whom I know personally; I think it would be very possible to form an all-LAN server. That Japanese server has everyone playing on LAN, and why shouldn't we do the same?

If a bunch of people lag on LAN, then fine, yeah, it's a no-go, but otherwise, I seriously think people should make the switch. I think I'll try to play solely on LAN from now on.

Exec seems fine for most people. I just dislike that there are still people playing on Good and the original option for project 64k is good.

Lower delay = better. Fine, or working, isn't optimal.

I only used LAN and tried to get people to switch to it for a while, but then I realized that I lag out about 2.5x as often. If I can ever fix that, then I'll definitely start using it again.

Firo said the server should be fine with everyone on LAN (but i kinda doubt it) we shall see.

Firo needs to making an announcement on the server telling everyone to switch that would be nice.

I heard a lot of people say that LAN causes ds to occur more often, not sure if it's true but I don't think the switch will happen =P

LAN use is bad when you're on emulinker servers. The fake ds happens way more often than any other connection, teams is pretty much impossible to do with a LAN setting because of this.

My game improved a lot when I switched from playing in excellent to only LAN and p2p. It's way more fun once you get used to it.

In Europe we always use LAN to play teams, it usually desynchs after 3 matches or so, i think its worth it

Having everyone play on Lan should be fine. Even though twice as many packets are being sent, the total bandwidth usage of kaillera is low enough (even dial-up users can play on lan) that it shouldn't make much of a difference. With twice as many packets, however, comes twice as many DSs and lag outs.

Recently I have been looking at Emulinker to see if the delay can be lowered to its minimum amount while still on excellent, but that seems to be something integrated into the kaillera client which instantly detects a DS if the delay values are changed. There is a way to restrict connection settings, but doing so would seem limiting for those users who don't have the most stable connections.

The real switch should happen when people start using mupen + Lan.

you know when the server feels like you should "lag out"
Ah, I thought that's what you meant, but I wasn't sure.

Yeah, that's exactly what my problem is.

I feel like it doesn't affect everyone though (or at least not as often as me), I wonder why that is...

I've been playing LAN exclusively for a couple days now- sure, there's DS, but nothing I can't deal with, and it's definitely worth it to get 60 keyframes and 1-2 frames of delay. My verdict: better than excellent. I'ma keep doing it.
