I've got quite a few simple recovery cancel tecniques but I can't use them until they are actually trying to recover! What are some ways I can get opponents knocked off while taking as little damage as possible? I'm not very good with combos but I'm trying to change that.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I suck with his foward and up tilts. No matter how lightly I press the buttons, it does a smash move instead 80% of the time. To get it to work I have to first hold over or up and then press A like two seconds after.

If you're talking about Knocking them off/ finishing them, A good move would be lucas's Forward smash (Stick) because it has good range, huge knockback and damage on it.

Also, an amazing situational move for lucas is his Up smash. It kill anyone at 75% damage, SO AMAZING. lots of lag on it though

Another move would be his bdown attack, psi magnet, has good knockback.

Good luck.

His forward tilt is also great as both a gtfo move and a launcher, but don't try to kill with it till high percents. Also his Fair has decent knockback.

Basically, you shouldn't base your game around edgeguarding, though.

Lucas has to adjust on the fly, his Pkfire is a consistent move though throughout all his matches. Use that in tandem with fair and his nair combos should launch people. If your opponent like to dodge, I suggest some on stage Pk Thunder and predicting with the downsmash.
