Help with online play with friends?

My 3DS keeps telling me my friend is offline even though he is online. However, I can see other people online. The same thing happens in the 3DS friends list. However, there is a blue wifi symbol that appears next to his name unlike the rest of my friends. Help please?

EDIT: He can see me and join my games though, I just can't join his. Also, another one of our friends can't see him either.

EDIT: Problem is fixed. Delete thread please.
